Avengers Campus - Reactions / Reviews

Okay, I'm slightly rested, vaguely coherent, badly sunburned and every one of my muscles hurts from all those hours waiting on the cement yesterday. I've still got to download all my photos and videos and work up the full report for my site, but general day-after reaction?

I was SO HAPPY. :)

A lot of park regulars that I know were there as well because we all wanted to welcome back cast and characters and performers and see their (and our!) new home. And other than the SEVERE LACK OF SHADE/COVER, we all unanimously loved it as we went from show to show and character to character.

Because there was always something happening! There were constant shows - from the stuntronic to the stunt show to the Dora Milaje to Doctor Strange to the Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance-Off (Socially Distanced Remix TM). :D

And doing a count, including the shows, I saw 17 characters in the land yesterday. 😍

I'm looking forward to spending time there when I can get in more regularly and to going on the attraction again if I can ever get into the queue. lol

Avengers Campus is where guests are recruited and trained to be Avengers. That’s the bare minimum backstory. The loads of gadgets in the stores, attraction, and restaurants add to it.
But are they though? How does a test kitchen make one an avenger? we are not inventing anything we are just purchasing food. Web Slingers is not giving us super powers or making us super heroes. we just help spidey and we only get webs from the ride vehicle invention he made. he is not giving us suits. we don't even go into webslingers to trian as heroes we go on a tour and things go wonky and spidey needs our help. Dr. Strange show is a magic show. Spidey is just a meet and greet. No where in the land do we do anything that would be considered training to be Avengers.

I noticed this and it kinda made me think the whole Spiderman WEB thing should have been a walk through attraction where guests could actually interact with the tech made there further in place of the Dr Strange walk through. I think all the IPs should have been switched around with Gaurdians in the Web Slinger spot with a dif story and Dr Strange in the tower.

Like the Wakanda guard ladies would make for a good training show at least like the Jedi training academy. But no, they just come out and do their cool spear thingy and leave. No where in the land do guests train to be heroes at all. There is the Spidey stuntronic show that turns into a meet and greet. There is a fight stunt show with task master at the Avenger's HQ , Dr. Strange has a magic show, Sometimes you meet an Avenger by an Avenger themed jeep, Sometimes heros stand at random areas of the land, Web Slingers is tech gone crazy , Pym Test Kitchen is where you buy food, Mission Breakout has its own stupid backstory that doesn't connect to the rest of the land at all. What did I miss? Where is this Avenger's training we are here for?? Sounds like a b.s. made up tag line by Disney to excuse the name campus because they just wanted a Marvel Land in one of their parks.

Any reports on how early people got there this morning to get in line?

I saw someone post a pic from 430 this morning and said there were about 30 people in line at that time. 😱
I venture to guess that more than 30 people will get let into the land when the park opens, which means that even the 2nd day open, and a Saturday, that you don't need to be there before daylight, which is certainly good.

Some of my park friends were there before dawn yesterday to get in (so they got in hours before I did).

I was into the parking structure probably by 8:30am or so and parked quicker than on cast preview day because so many people had already arrived. But by that time another friend had already updated me that the standby line was already more than a three hour wait. So I opted to get my pin shopping done first and then get in the standby line.

All day the leads walking up and down the line were like 'you know you're not guaranteed to get in, right? You probably won't and might as well go enjoy the rest of your day' and I'm like THIS IS WHY I'M HERE. Happily a regular CM (non-lead) working the line was all 'oh, yeah, sure you'll get in' which gave me better hope! Hello, leads, you're not being magical and she is! (And she was right thankfully. I was in midway through the day and stayed until after closing.)

Yeah that is odd for castmembers to try to tell you you won't get in when by the end of the day almost everyone got in.

something that should have been in place before they messed up yesterday. it should only allow you to order once you have scanned you are in the land.

So can the app actually recognize if one is in Avengers Campus or are they just asking that people please not order if they are not in Avengers Campus and hope the guests comply? If it’s the latter, why not just scrap mobile order for Avengers Campus and only sell food to people who are physically in the land with good old fashioned cash registers? Also how did they not see this coming? We all knew it would be a train wreck after reading that blog post the other day.

Oh I agree with you. Use the registers over this mobile order junk. Since when is cold hard cash no longer a thing? I don't know if the app can do that but that screen shot shown earlier from today looks like it might. I mean its linked to your ticket, so why can't the ticket be scanned once they are in the land which would allow it to trigger the ability to mobile order? I dunno. Disney messed up on how they handled mobile orders yesterday big time and with a lack of rides in the land or things to do in general, most were coming for the food. The 1 thing Disney heavily advertised and they dropped the ball on it.

It wouldn’t be that hard to have the app track that and require location tracking to do so. Problem is I can definitely see Disney not investing enough to give the app that functionality.

The preshow explains that some malfunction is causing the individual spider bots to keep replicating, but then at the end there's randomly a big boss spider bot, and then defeating it just solves the problem? HUH? Imagineering is good at consistent details these days but seems to have trouble executing a compelling story.
the mecha-spider-bots are explained in the preshow
