I just want a non-Disney Princess musical. Is that to much too ask for?
Those exist?

In TSMM nothing goes wrong. There is no sense of danger like in most rides. Something going wrong gives us story arc and helps the rider feel invested. Why can't Sid show up and do something bad with the toys? We could help stop him. Finally there is no sense of competition with other players. Men in Black is cool because you can shoot at other riders and send them spinning. This messes with their score. Most players on TSMM have no clue they can cooperate to find easter eggs and get a higher score.
Every classic Disneyland ride has something go wrong. It’s a Small World is invaded by fairytales, Carrousel of Progress was dislocated to some obscure place in the South, forever being stuck with an outdated final scene, and for some reason Haunted Mansion is closed 2 weeks a year and for some reason they spill Christmas decorations and turn on the wrong audio track during the refurbishment.I could not disagree with this premise more. Do you secretly work for Universal Creative? (joking). A ride DOES NOT need something to go wrong to be a great ride. That's not a defence of this ride, I just shudder about that mentality.
I also don't understand the competition bit, every time I've been on TSMM with anyone new, they immediately treat it as a competition. The layman is directly competing against the person beside them.
Those exist?
I think DCA needs a boat ride, absolutely. I think DCA could have used Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. I don't think this is totally the wrong move though, in the context of this addition/properties. I don't think a classic family dark ride really jives with Marvel, this seems like a reasonable compromise.
The pendulum ride looked cool, but it would make for a decidedly non-family friendly land in context of the two other attractions.
I guess it depends on how similar this is to TSMM. I don't think there is inherent harm with a second shooter in DCA, I don't think it totally tips the scales by any means. In fact my first-timer friends after our bomb through of both parks asked if there was any more rides like TSMM.
Plus I thought this was just going to be a movie theatre attraction for a while, so a shooter ride is an upgrade.
I see absolutely zero issue with an indoor E-ticket coaster, DCA does not have that at all.
The comparisons are solely because of Spiderman already in use in IOA. But a shooter, a properly enclosed dark tower and a properly enclosed E-ticket roller coaster without gaudy 90's design aesthetics is certainly better than IOA. IOA isn't even particularly bad, so, yes it's not Galaxy's Edge, but this is certainly not Pixar Pier.
Off the top of my head:
Lion King
Oliver & Company
Hercules
Alice in Wonderland
Peter Pan
The Sword in the Stone
Jungle Book
Pinocchio
Lady and the Tramp
The AristoCats
Robin Hood
Hunchback of Notre Dame
...so yes. They exist.
I hope they keep some of the elements of ITTBABS indoor queue. Why? Because it made you feel like you are somewhere else. That doesn’t happen in many places at DCA outside Grizzly Peak.
Do they have enough real estate, time (20 months or so) and desire to build something that competes with Universals Spider-Man? If this is more 4D interactive dark ride and less TSMM shooter it could be good. At the least I expect a TSMM 2.0 with more effects, some sets and an AA or two.
Did I say this and forget?I could not disagree with this premise more. Do you secretly work for Universal Creative? (joking). A ride DOES NOT need something to go wrong to be a great ride. That's not a defence of this ride, I just shudder about that mentality.

Hahah I know. I was just trying to say we haven’t seen one in a while. But sword in the Stone and Robin Hood?
Did I say this and forget?
It's a stretch, but they both have several songs sung by the characters in the film. As apposed to something like The Rescuers or Tarzan where all but one are sung off camera.

Yes, they should build something that competes with Spiderman. I guess the fallacy is that it has to be Spiderman to do it. There is nothing wrong with building a C/D-ticket when the land will have two other E-tickets. An argument could be made that perhaps they were better off to be avoidant of that property entirely. Certainly Spiderman could have been an E-ticket, but what if it still wasn't quite as good, would that be better? Now they are left with a Spiderman ride that isn't as good, a tower people maliciously hate and an Avengers ride that is a C/D ticket.
It might have been overall better for Hong Kong to get Spiderman and DCA to get Antman (beyond one actually being relevant to California)
To your first point I agree. I hope for better sense of place than Universal. I'd strongly argue that I feel like I've gone somewhere sitting at Flo's Dinner watching the Cars race by with the Cadillac backdrop. I even really like the Pacific Wharf if I'm honest.
Aladdin is full of pop-culture and even Disney references. No one seemed to mind.
I’m not sure it’s really a fallacy. People are going to be comparing. I guess it depends how you look at it. If you look at the land and think the Spider-Man shooter is the worst of 3 attractions it’s doesnt sound too bad. But if you think about what the park needs or compare Spider-Man at DCA to Spider-Man at Universal then it can be disappointing.
