went to the resort today for dinner and drinks and to get some walking done.

i stood near the area of the eastern ticket booths and security area on the eastern side. realized how big that piece of land is.

if they can get the eastern gateway going and then move security and ticket booths to a new hub area across the street they could really add something grand. That piece if land including the shuttle area would double the size of hollywood backlot. plenty if room at add several new additions including a large indoor coaster. DCA would then really become an even more worthy second gate
Totally agree, for me this was the best part of the proposed eastern gateway (and I’m one of the smucks who stays on harbor). i really hope this area doesn’t become an extension of marvel campus, I enjoy the old Hollywood theme. But with the likely cost of moving the monorail, coupled with the re imagining of the eastern entry area, only something big like Marvel will justify it to upper management.

well with the budget being thrown around i do hope its happening. swge is said to have cost a billion and that had lots of rockwork. a hollywood extension i doubt would have the labor cost of rockwork and can go to attractions.

i also thinknit kight end up being marvel eventhough i would prefer something to fit hollywood. u do know the park needs attractions though on that side of the park

If that number is being thrown around, I'd think the Eastern Gateway will be a part of this also. As in claiming space for the current transportation drop off like it was proposed.
Hollywood land or whatever it may become could potentially be about the size of GE. Enough room for two whole rides! /s and a lot more

i always thought a hotel would go well in that area, maybe with private entrances to both parks, a roof top restaurant looking out over the esplanade, the center of the hotel could work like the contemporary in DW, with the monorail and Easter pedestrian path running through the middle. Off subject

i wonder if Rearranging the monorail around that back lot is limbo, as the possibility of the figure 8 above autopia May get removed also... like wonder if they just wann do both rearrangings at he same time.

Personally, I’d find that to be a waste of valuable theme park space. I know the contract is complicated, but will they one day own and be able to use that enormous PPH parking lot? They could demo PPH and have room for two resorts there, if so.

I mean yeah, I just thought a massive entry hotel similar to how Paris operates would be cool. But yes a waste of space.

Theme be damned, I partially suspected they'd go with a Wakanda in that corner.

However, since the 2nd phase ride serves that purpose, it's a bit difficult to say what they'd do in that corner. Monsters Inc has sort of burned itself out. It could still be more Marvel, but I don't exactly know what.

Something semi-urban, something IP. I hate to say it but there is an anthropometric animal film that they are sitting on...

The whole splitting up the lands seems so odd to me, but marvel is the bread winner these days. Wonder if Hollywood land is just screwed either way. It’s not doing much to move the needle in terms of entertainment. With MAMRR off the map hard to imagine what “Hollywood” inspired ride or ip could go back there. Thus it always circles back to marvel land part 2 divided by a clumsily decorated broadway show building.

Frozen already has a show and meet and greet in that area. Studios Paris is getting a Frozen expansion.

I know Frozen is/was supposed to go into Fantasyland like at HKDL, but we've seen stranger things at DLR.

DCA like WDSP/EPCOT is now the "anything goes here" park. That makes it hard to guess. It's most likely not to support the California theme.

I mean tbh if a Frozen land must come I’d rather it go in DCA than DL. DCA is already a hodge podge anyway. Its just tough for me to see how that transition from Hollywood Blvd/ BVS to Arendelle would work. It can be done but it’s just hard for me to visualize.

The best way is to simple erase Hollywood Blvd from existence and replace with frozen and more marvel. Though I’d prefer a though full expansion or re do of the Hollywood land.

I’d prefer a re do of Hollywood but seeing that that TOT is gone and MMRR went to Toontown it doesn’t seem like it’s long for this world. I don’t think the Boulevard itself is going anywhere so I say continue the BVS theming until the Hyperion and build the new land where the backlot and eastern gateway expansion area is. I was about to say they could easily just add a couple cheap facades to Hollywood Blvd and rebrand it as an extension of Marvel Land. However being that they went with “Avengers Campus” as opposed to a more generic Marvel Land makes that less likely. With that said I think it’s obvious that they ve been “wingin it” when it comes to DCA the last few years so who the heck knows? It’s all about timing, which IP is hot at the moment they re considering investing and them getting the issues with the city resolved.

Feels like 3 marvel rides is plenty for this resort. besides the animation building coupled with the Disney junior building could be gutted and used for a campus Expansion. The Hollywood side in this scenario gets a simple facade and/or shallow shops and what yet. Marvel could also take over the Hyperion building if need be. I personally loved the great movie ride and think it could be redone for that backlot area vs a disjointed marvel or frozen or coco area. Seems like a solid use (GMR) for many of the fox properties that have no home in a Disney park. I say this as I also love the Buena vista to Hollywood transaction and story and how it keeps DCA feeling very Disney.
