Avengers Campus: E-Watch! (Waiting on the new ride)

Also call me crazy, but a system that allows for speeding up and slowing down (even if human driven) based on line length is better for the overall guest experience rather than being locked into a system that isn't flexible such as the automated one that was considered.

Unless that system is automated, quicker and much more efficient.

Well again given the FTCs investigation the latter seems to be in question, which outweighs any benefit for the former.

Whether it’s some current system or one in development I’d say something automated would be better for both safety and guest experience. I mean are any other large theme parks other than Disneyland doing it this way anymore?

I can't speak for other theme parks since I haven't gone to any other in at least 15 years. But I can speak about NFL stadiums and concert venues which get just as many visitors as DLR does in a day. And the ones I go to all do it the same way as DLR with hand searches and metal detectors, and wanding as a backup. And these are not old venues, all built in the last decade or two.

I'm sure there are venues out there that have automated systems, which I'm sure someone will bring up, but I've never experienced one.

I've never waited an hour at the Harbor entrance, ever. Also I've used that DLH entrance, as recent as July, and they were doing standard bag check. Maybe you got lucky and they didn't the times you went through.

Also the FTC investigated Evolve for misrepresenting the effectiveness of the system, which is probably the reason why any plan TDA had didn't move forward with them.

I use the DLH entrance. Not an hour, but frequently 20-30 minutes for early entry. Enough that I haven’t really entered early because of security lines.

WDW is 20 seconds. It still flags bag searches, but that occurs off to the side.

The difference is enough that I think one is horrible and one is wonderful. Though Tokyo Disney Sea has horrible security too (not land, since you wait for park opening post security).

Every persons experience is different but I don’t think I’ve waited longer than 15 minutes at any bag check during normal operations, no matter the time of day.

I think the longest I’ve waited is 20-25 minutes, but that was for the 24 hours of Disney event for the 60th at the beginning of the day. As I never left except to go back to the hotel when I finally tapped out at hour 21, I can’t tell you how it was for any other time of the day.

I guess I’ve just gotten lucky, or just know how to pick less busy times or less busy lines.

But all in all it’s seems less likely with the investigation by the FTC that DLR will ever get the Evolv system like WDW has. Maybe another vendor exists that has a similar system. But it seems to me that TDA isn’t in a hurry to add a new system at this point, automated or otherwise.

They speed up or slow down the process depending on how many people they have in line.
Or not. Used a very backed up DLH entrance after a previous run expo. The group ahead of us had a stroller and a LOT of shopping bags. Security combed through every single bit. I was kind of impressed by their thoroughness.

Well there you have it. Sometimes they re fast. Sometimes they re slow. Sometimes they re thorough and sometimes they re not. Plenty of room for human error.

I know its not a weapon but twice this year (once at EPCOT and once at MK) personal drones have gotten past security.. Maybe Anaheim Operations would just rather still hand search bags to keep prohibited items out of the park.

Likely I'm not the first to see this, but as I was looking at a picture of the Avenger's ride vehicle I noticed what might be screens on the dashboard. What do you suppose we're looking at?

Im guessing it cant be too important to the overall show if the second and third rows cant see it. Although it does appear like they might be there in front of the second row as well.

I was looking at that row too, but as you say it is hard to be sure. I did a little sleuthing to see if anyone had photographed a more revealing angle, but I couldn't find anything.

Given that they aren't going to be visible for every seat since they are only in the front row I can't imagine they are anything show relevant. If I was to guess its not a screen but just a "vehicle dashboard" display.

Or if they are screens could just be small messages played during the battles from the various Avengers. Similar to how during the Rey room for Rise they have screens in various places playing videos from Poe and Nein Numb.

I'm thinking it's probably just a design feature. In 2027 not sure what they think those screens would add? We all have iPads, iPhones and computers in front of our faces all day. And why would each person in the same row have their own screen? And the screens were showing different characters or scenes that would be very distracting. We also know it cant be a scoreboard of sorts as this ride isn't supposed to be interactive.

Possibly but doesn't seem worth the effort / cost if that was the case. Seems like it would also takeaway from the main show.

This is why my main guess is just a vehicle dashboard display.

I can only think if it is screens its not main action, more just side stuff that wouldn't take away from the main show. Which is why I'm saying its more like messages from various Avengers like "watch out for that" or "hey be on the look out for this". Stuff that could play between the different rooms with the action.
