Avengers Campus: E-Watch! (Waiting on the new ride)

I have a bad feeling about this. Are we are just going to get a rethemed Peter Pan from FS ? At least Transformers has a second floor and elevator.

Maybe but beefed up a little. I will say I don’t even notice the elevator on transformers. Meaning to say I don’t think it adds to my ride experience. I don’t know what is going on on that ride. It’s just pure chaos.

I just miss the Jetpack Quinjet ride. This feels like such a downgrade. The motion system has been around for almost thirty years now. I'm sure the Youtube talking heads will enjoy it.

There has to be something up there sleeve though right? It’s hard to believe they’d follow up Webslingers with anything other than something cutting edge and/ or thrilling for Avengers. Perhaps the tech surrounding the attractions is but the ride system just isn’t exciting me nor am I seeing how it’s the right choice for the IP in 2027.

Crapping on a ride we really know hardly anything about is par for this forum.

I’m sorry did us making educated guesses on this attraction hurt your feelings?

Probably. Still hard for me to see how an Avengers ride that’s just going to move you from screen to screen at 5 mph without any real physical thrills is going meet the energy people are expecting from this IP. I can see how it would work for something like Peter Pan or why something like FOP works for Avatar/ a majestic flight around Pandora but it isn’t clear to me how this is ideal for the Avengers. I don’t think Transformers 2.0 will cut it here.
Is there anything that says a trackless vehicle can't go faster than 5 mph? I know of no limitation on the tech that says it can't. So just because previous uses of it have limited it to 5 mph doesn't mean this attraction can't go faster.

Also I think the idea isn't about the speed of the vehicle itself but rather what is going on around it and its ability to move freely. You can have the vehicle whipping you around at 5 mph and still seem like its a lot faster due to all the action around you.

Plus with this attraction seeming to be 2 stories it seems, at least at this point, there could be a few thrill sections like Rise has with the elevators. We'll have to wait and see if that is included here.

@BrianLo has been on Pan at TDS and has high praise for it. Whether that translates properly for the energy expected / required by an Avengers ride I’m not sure.
On that note, something that sticks in my mind is that we initially compared it to Transformers for the observable parallels. Yet as soon as Peter Pan opened many said that while it looks like the Universal ride it feels more like Flight of Passage. Reviewers have also said that the screens are better blended into the environment and the lighting in the attraction works toward masking them. For my part I continuously wonder about Scott Trowbridge's "My Favorite Part.." D23 tease. It would seem that there is another significant element in the ride that has yet to be revealed.

I remain optimistic in spite of the fact that what was presented in 2019 looked far more ambitious. It was disappointing to see it scrapped, especially because California Adventure still needs an attraction that people will talk about in the same way Rise of the Resistance is regarded. The previous Avengers concept could have been it, but I don't expect Infinity Defense to claim the title. It seems to me those aspirations have shifted to the upcoming Avatar attraction. That doesn't dampen my interest in an Avengers ride, iterated from a system good enough for Tokyo and one that has received positive reviews. Reviews, it's worth adding, from those who are likely familiar with the Transformers ride. Based on that and the fact the attraction's subject matter is radically different and potentially more kinetic I am anxious to see this one assembled.

No but don’t foresee them going much faster.

I’d believe you but I’ve been on Mario Kart

Yes, let’s wait and see.

And maybe they won't go much faster. But any increase is all exponential in what it adds to the experience. So even if it goes 7 mph, that slight increase can make the difference between seeming slow in a dark ride and being whipped around a action scene in the middle of a battle.

Different ride system thought isn't it? Its a bar bus system is it not? So to me that is more of a traditional dark ride with limited speed with just AR added. So I don't think you can compare that to a trackless ride that is whipping you around an action scene.

Yep agree.

Indeed. Scott Trowbridge is overseeing this and did Spiderman for IOA and I like Pan perhaps the best.

Though neither of those things guarantee success. I still think this is a great ride offering contrast in context of Coco and Pandora.

The reason I love Pan is that the rides conflict gets resolved and then it spends 2 minutes just soaking up scenery and flying. I’d bet Avengers is bombastic from start to finish.

Same here. While it’s not going to be showstopping it won’t disappoint as a fun attraction to do during the day. Went on Pan 3 times and it really solidified the fact that it’s FoP on the Spider-man ride vehicles. A very complete and satisfying experience.

The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is my favorite ride of all time, has been since 1999, if you tell me that one of the key designers of that ride is working on a new ride, with what is basically an enhanced version of that ride system, but with even more Super Heroes, that instantly becomes my most anticipated ride.
