Avengers at the parks??

I don't think any Marvel would fit in well. When I think Marvel, I think Islands of Adventure (one of my favorite parks), not Disney.

New York Street at DHS for Iron Man and Captain America meet-n-greets.

Plus Stark Tower added to the "Streets of America" skyline, a SHIELD Agent Training seminar (similar to Jedi Acadamy), and Mjolnir crashed into the pavement for guests to try their luck in lifting.

I wish there was a way to do this. Marvel just negoiated some film rights with Fox to get the rights to Galactus and Silvery Surfer back. I would love to see something happen as far as theme park rights go. I love Marvel and I really like the land at Universal, but Disney could do more. Universal wouldn't have to get rid of the rides, just retheme them.

I can hope.

I'm hoping that's what Disney is doing with James Cameron. Build and develop the whole Avatar Land thing...and then offer it to Universal as a trade.

"Avatar" would be better suited to Islands of Adventure than Animal Kingdom any day.

I liked the idea of Avatar Land, But if it was that or Marvel...I say Marvel! That would be great! There is just so much you can do with the Marvel universe.

Yeah, that'll happen. Disney'll spend huge amounts of money for an attraction based on a boring movie, and then hand it to the competition. And for what? Superheroes? *gag* I say that Universal can have both Marvel AND Pandora. Magic belongs in Disney. Muscle-bound adolescent power fantasies belong...anywhere else.

That wasn't necessary and its upsetting that you reduced Marvel comics down to just that when you clearly don't have a clue what you are talking about. I would suggest reading a few interviews from creators on reasons why they created characters like the X-men. They are just fantasies, but many of the stories carry themes that people can relate to. (ie. characters that are different, gay, loss a parent, stand for something important, etc). I think Disney would benefit from having such a broad roster of characters in the parks.

The last time I saw it (I believe) was in the World of Disney store at DtD. But I'll tell you, the Disney store in Times Square was packed with Marvel goods, even having Spiderman merchandise from and center when you walked in.....

First, I can't believe I'm posting in another Marvel thread when I know I won't get this time back at the end of my life.

Second, and I've mentioned this before (I am nothing if not repetitive), but I didn't see ANY Marvel merchandise at MK, EPCOT or TPFKaTD-MGMS on my last visit this spring, including in big stores where they had the stuff before such as the shops on Sunset Blvd at Studios, the shop at the exit to Stitch at MK, Mousegear at EPCOT ... nothing, nada, zero, zilch. In May at DLP, I also didn't see one Marvel item.

I have seen loads of Marvel merchandise on discount at the lovely Sawgrass Mills WDW Character Warehouse, however.

Epicness is Marvel. That's all, and the word "magic" and its derivatives are starting to get on my nerves.

Well, to be fair, I was last at WDW in December 2011. The Times Square store I just hit a few weeks ago. So I don't know. :)

That's OK. I have seen plenty at Disney Stores from Paris to SoFla ... I just remember thinking it very odd that I didn't see any at the three parks in FLA or the two in Paris. I had seen plenty at WDW in past visits, but it had all been removed. Now, they may have had loads at DD, especially at WoD, but I didn't visit this trip, so I don't know.
But if it was that popular, then you can bet I would have seen some at the parks and not loads of it sitting at an outlet at 40-70% off not selling!

Does that mean they were going BOGO on the "Disney Park" merchandise?

(Sorry, cheap shot. But easy at the same time).

Where in WDW can you purchase Marvel (more specifically, Avengers) merchandise?? I'm here on vacation now and I've been looking everywhere for some kind of Avengers themed merchandise...
There is definitely superhero merchandise in the parks, I remember seeing some spiderman stuff if I'm not mistaken.

I do blush a little around Captain America at IOA:

The Marvel Characters at IOA received a makeover just last year!

I think a lot of people feel this way. Marvel has been with IOA so long now, they get associated together. If Disney was ever (doubtful) to have a Marvel presence in it's WDW parks, it needs to be something NOT used at IOA. Iron Man, Thor, Gaurdians of the Galaxy, or maybe Iron Fist. Something that people wouldn't associate with the competition.

nope... no, no, no... no, period

Avengers, while a huge cash cow NOW... will die out. They are also the furthest thing from Disney you could possible conceive of in a practical fashion. Again, no.

Look harder then because it was there a few weeks ago especially at Hollywood studios

I just don't see Marvel as Disney. Maybe like Power Rangers DHS COULD have the Avengers characters in the parade or a short show.:)

I hate the notion of including characters and themes that do NOT tie into what your company is KNOWN for simply because a corporate buyout that gave you the rights to characters.

That's like Toy-R-Us buying an adult pleasure toy company... then selling personal items in their stores because they simply acquired the rights and determined they could make a profit from the items.

Disney has bought other properties and included them in the parks(Muppets, Star Wars). I don't see why there would be a problem with this one.

As far as the Avengers/Marvel not sticking around...The cartoons are doing well with more in development and the toy aisles in stores are full of Marvel merchandise. Last halloween I saw tons of kids in Marvel hero costumes too. I would say the Avengers will be around for awhile.
