Just look at the upcoming lineups for the North American parks.

I'd rather not

Yeah, sadly the only recent non synergy "land" is only inside of TDS. Though they did do a good job with EE, I don't expect something of grand detail anymore. Sad to say. :(

The only place I can think that they could incorporate an Avator attraction is Disney's Hollywood Studios (I still call it MGM though). Only because the park is obviously based on movies, and the attractions are movie based.

To me it would seem extremely weird if Disney tried incorporating any Marvel movies into WDW, even if Spiderman did have Mickey ears.

Avatar doesn't have cartoon characters in it, so obviously Disney would never make a ride out of it.

I'm sure Uni would do a bang-up job with it, though. Although I don't know where they could thematically put it.

They do have the wasted arena near Toon Lagoon.

Demo that area and add Pandora Island between Toon Lagoon and MSI.

I can't imagine Disney supporting Avatar because I could see a lot of controversy since Avatar had a few scenes with cussing in it.
(Specifically the part where he first lands in the jungle and is talking junk to the animal, challenging him face to face while the other bigger badder animal is behind him).

Also, it would be dumb to make a ride based on Titanic, because let's not forgot, it was a tragedy before it was a movie. That's like if they made a movie about 9/11 and put some romantic story into the plot, then made a 9/11 ride.

I hardly doubt that Disney would purchase the rights to Avatar to use for an attraction. I could picture Universal doing so. To be honest, after seeing Avatar I really wouldn't pay to go on an attraction based off the ride.

id have to agree with jedi master, i think universal is a better choice for avatar. for me, it replaced lotr as my best movie of all time. i just dont think disney is the right genra for this ride. where disney will only make a pavillion, universal would make an entire land, like the harry potter'ville they made. the only reason start tours is there and not in universal is because it was an epic movie that became a classic blueprint that all other movies were measured up to, kinda like a universal remote, it speaks to all genras and all types of people, whereas hp and avatar, (as well as jurassic park, mummy, etc) speaks to only one group or genra of people.

Was I the only one who just thought "Avatar" was a live-action "Fern Gully" with a massive budget? Oh.. in 3D!!!

It was a good movie, and gorgeously brought to life, but to warrant all this hype for a story we've already heard?

Take "Fern Gully" and give it the biggest refurb ever... = "Avatar".

No. It's easily the most overrated film since The Lord of the Rings trilogy. People think they are seeing a good movie because the effects are fantastic, but in reality it's really formulaic and, in my opinion, boring.

IMO, you can't decide that a ride should be made for a movie immediately after coming out because you don't know if it will stand the test of time. By the time they finished constructing the ride, the movie would not be the "it" thing anymore. This is kind of how I feel about Harry Potter as well...while I LOVE Harry Potter, the books have all been released and there are only two movies left to go now that it's land at IOA is finally opening. In 5 years or so will people still be interested?

I agree with the first part. I guess maybe I just didn't catch the Avatar buzz that everyone else seemed to. I seriously doubt that Avatar can stand the tests of time like so many of the attractions at both WDW and Universal. However I do see Harry Potter being able to. Harry Potter; the books, movies, and 'land' will appeal to a huge group of people through multiple generations.

Plus I dont see how the theme of Avatar could fit anywhere in WDW.

Now...a Hannah Montana ride on the other hand...:ROFLOL:

Lord of the Rings? Overrated? That's crazy talk.

I'm with you on Avatar though. I think the real reason it succeeded is because it was the first time that I'm aware of that a "real" director did a picture in 3D. There's no way on earth it would have done as well without the 3D gimmick.
Yes, I know it the 3D in Avatar wasn't actually a gimmick considering that it was used to immerse the viewer in the world and story, but in terms of attracting customers to the theatre during the worst snowstorms in recent history, you can bet the 3D was the main attraction.

Also, I think it's pretty safe to say that the "Harry Potter" universe is going to be very popular for a very long time.

Avatar? I'm not so sure.
Speaking of James Cameron, I'd rather see Disney go forward with Aliens based ride they kept kicking around at Imagineering.

We got Alien Enounter which was like an alien attraction, the original commercials made it LOOK like it was the real "Alien" from the movie(s)
