That's hilariously arrogant on Disney's part.
Is it arrogant if it's true?

Printing.

Money.

If they weren't, all the creative qualms you all have would be valid. But the waterfall of hundred dollar bills is drowning out your cries.

This statement is absurd. That the mouse is not reacting out of some sense of fear is a positive thing. The threat is not that great. Disney will react when they can do so with a quality technologically advanced product.

Transformers is not a draw? While it's not Potter, it is a very popular IP that has been around for 30 years.
It's a draw for locals and passholders who follow this stuff. But I don't think your average suburban family in Toledo gives a dang. It's too juvenile for many adults and too intense for younger children. It's fine to target teens and twenty-somethings but suburban families of four is where the money comes from.

This thread has taken a hilarious turn. How fast credibility can disappear.

That's absurd. 10 billion isn't "back in shape" money, it's "build every fanboy's wet dream" money. All of DAK cost $1B originally. $4B could build a fifth and sixth gate, $2B could build four resorts. $2B for monorail expansion. Leaving $2B for getting "back in shape" money.

The Spirit folks lose a ton of credibility in a lot of people's eyes when they go off the deep end like that.

Exactly.

Just think of how much more Disney would have to charge in admission to spend $5-10 billion. Then all the fanbois/spirits would start complaining about how expensive things have become and then inevitably it's all corporate greed, etc.

Lather, Rinse, Repeat...

You guys got me. Uni is winning the battle for teenagers and college kids. If I'm a business, I'll take the $4,000 Family Suite guest with the Disney Dining Plan over the Miami of Ohio Phi Beta Kappa sorority girls doing "Spring Break on a budget."

I know for a fact that the name "Pandora's Box" isn't a cultural/literary/mythological reference as most would suspect, nor is it a reference to Pandora from "Avatar". The guy who designed the ride system had a girlfriend named Pandora he was really into.......

She must have left a mark on him

Wait. Whoa.

I'm not an official traffic cop or anything, but this thread
just went from being very informative and entertaining to
another mire and muck of opinion and mudflinging.

Really, Tim has been generous in sharing info. Thanks for that.
But, opinions as to what Uni and Disney are/should/could be doing
are for the other thread, aren't they?

My current favorite thread is turning sour, and I'm sad about that.
Please, respectfully, take it outside.

Tim--any answer to my question about the scope of the "land" around
the attractions? That's what I want to hear about.

With hope . . .

So a 2.7 billion dollar movie franchise is one that no one is interested in going to? Okay.

Listen, I hate Avatar, but it's obviously somewhat of a draw. To say Transformers has no draw what so ever is a desperate strawman argument.

This stuff isn't analyzed on an absolute basis. These decisions are made based on broad generalizations and sweeping assumptions. And yes, I firmly believe that the average family has no clue that Transformers is a thing at Universal Studios. Some people might be super jacked about it, but I believe that's a very small minority. Maybe I'm wrong.
