In 2011, Disney announced plans to build an Avatar themed "land" in Disney's Animal Kingdom (DAK). Construction is supposed to start this year (2013) with the land taking 3-to-5 years to complete.

In 2012, Disney purchased Lucasfilm, acquiring the rights to the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.

Should Disney continue its plans for Avatar or cancel this project and move forward with a Star Wars themed land, possibly creating an Ewok's Village in DAK?

P.S. I don't think it's financially reasonable to expect Disney to proceed with both so the poll intentionally offers only two choices.

Well I've never seen either of these movies so I can't truly vote. If I would, I would choose Star Wars considering they actually own LucasFilm now. Star Wars also seems like a better brand due to the fact there are more movies coming...there are for Avatar too but anyone I've talked to seems to think they are a bad idea. Anything is good IMHO! We just need something!

Honestly, is there really any question about this? Avatar was a nice movie. But it dosnt come close to what the SW franchise has meant to our pop culture. For me it dosnt even come close. I am sure there are fans of Avatar, but the fandom of SW has legions of people world wide. A SW land would become a Mecca fo a lot of people. In terms of how much money that would be made? There would be a new parade at Disney....a parade of Brinks trucks going down I4.

Great question. I "Like" it. Wink wink.

I think Star Wars is more known and likeable, at least around my neck of the woods it is. Star Wars has been around for a long time and I think will continue to be in it for a long time. Avatar is futuristic and cool but ...I don't know. I don't want to offend anyone but I like Star Wars better. (ducks for cover)
I know my husband would enjoy Avatar Land and was pretty psyched when I told him but he has always been a die hard SW fan.

Pandoraland wasn't even set to open until, what, late 2016 at the very earliest?
Asking the designers to go back to the drawing board, again, is only going to push things back even further.

We've had this same thread at least a dozen times before, and everyone keeps making the same points, so I might as well point out, again, that Avatar made more money than all three Star Wars prequels.
Combined.

I have to say Say Star Wars Land, but barely. I am saying that because AK and DHS both need a lot of help, but Star Wars is the more popular movie and means a lot more in pop culture. There also is the issue of Disney would have to build 4 building for Avatar land at least in AK compare to the amount of stuff that needs be done at DHS for Star Wars Land.

There already is Star Tours: The Adventure Continues attractions and a shop. That means Star Wars land only needs Mos Eisley Cantina and make the American Idol and Sounds Dangerous building into one new Star Wars attraction. What I mean with the American Idol and Sounds Dangerous Buildings is basically make them into one building and use it creating an Attraction.

I seem to be one of the few who likes the Avatar idea, but if I had to choose I would pick Star Wars, but in DHS not DAK. Star Wars just doesn't fit in DAK. Just because there is part of a movie that takes place in a natural environment doesn't mean it fits in DAK. I also disagree with the last point, I think it's totally reasonable for them to add expansion to both parks. These are the two parks that people most often call "half-day parks" so they can both use some new attractions. Not to mention that fact that we have heard some pretty firm rumors that Disney is looking at Carsland for DHS, so they obviously have no issue with expanding in both parks.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I voted for Avatarland because I think they can get that up and running faster. I have never seen Avatar, so I am looking forward to a whole new experience. Plus, DAK is my least favourite park, and I think it desperately needs more to keep me there past 1:30.
I think great new stuff; Carsland, Monsters Inc. Coaster, and more is coming to DHS in the near future. It is inevitable that Star Wars will EVENTUALLY be added to DHS; but I want new attractions now!!
Go with what has been agreed upon with Avatar. Like tomorrow, please.
Bring us Carsland and the Monsters Inc. Coaster. Like tomorrow, please.
And then I will be willing to wait (until after the next movie, apparently) for the Star Wars expansion ... because I think it's inevitable.
On a separate note, I went on the new Star Tours in November, and it made me just as nauseated as the old version. NEVER AGAIN.

They could do Avatar with a SW themed restroom. Now that Disney owns SW, they could license a cameo of say the Death Star in A3....you know, the evil human ship going back to Pandora flies by the death star on approach to Pandora...

Absolutely no interest anything Avatar related. Have never seen the movie nor do I plan on it. A whole land devoted to it for me would be nothing more than something to do every once in a while as long as it's not busy. Even then I still may not do it. Not a huge huge Star Wars fan but I enjoy the movies and would visit a devoted land every trip.

I think they should rethemed Blizzard Beach to Hoth. Add a few Imperial Walkers and offer tauntaun rides. They already have the snow...
