I know . . .

Yeah, I knew who he was before he ever appeared in spraytan and blonde wig at D23, but most
people won't. It's just that, sorry to tell ya this, Jon . . . yer not that good as an actor. Cameron
and Rohde must think this is a hoot or something, 'cause there are lots of actual actors that would
do better than the 'deer in the headlights', or 'fake enthusiasm', or 'I'm reading a cue-card' department.

Again--the guy is obviously talented, especially if he can keep up with Cameron, he must be really
something. As a producer.

It's just an opinion of mine, on a message board . . . that's all . . .
i think the point is being missed
cheezy cars salesman is what they are going for

Well we shall see how it all fits in to the overall story of ACE. Again, just me, but no matter
what the story I wish it was someone anonymous. That said, of course, this is such a tiny
matter--but it's a message board, so that's what we do here, LOL.

In the D23 video, Landau was "acting" as the earnest founder/face of an interplanetary eco-tourism company (as opposed to a shady, used-car type) and doing a poor job of it. There is a reason he's behind the camera in real life, not in front of it. There is an awkward lack of comfort and naturalness delivering lines and an unpleasant nature to the physicality/voice quality of his portrayal of "Chip, the Founder" (or whatever his name is). If this role is heavily-involved in the pre-show and elsewhere, then it's a terrible, ego-fueled decision to use a non-actor big shot.
Hoping it is kept very minimal.

EDIT:

Had to go back to watch it.

Actually laughed out loud. Defines the word "cringeworthy." I'd give him a high-five if it were limited to this promo only. A fun, inside joke. But just awful and unfunny if they take it into the permanent land/attraction.

I agree here. I'm sure I'll get over it, but it's just so clear there was a much better (if slightly more expensive) way to go about that character.

So... while searching for RoL updates on Twitter, I stumbled upon the "@visitpandora" account, which has a link to their webpage (visitpandora.com). The website seems to talk about ACE and Pandora as an incredible tourist destination (think of what Universal did for Jurassic World, making it seem like a real theme park, with its own website, etc).
Definitely worth checking out (especially as I expect it to be updated before opening day).
