AVATAR land construction progress

I don't think it is unreasonable to have IPs at DAK as long as they are appropriately used. I wouldn't put cartoon characters in the heart of Harambe or Anandapur. But I am a fan of the idea of having a separate land (say "Critter Country") which celebrates Disney cartoon animals. That way, it would be distinct from the more realistic portions of the park, but still have a presence -- I don't think it is "wrong" to have an attraction devoted to Bambi or 101 Dalmatians, etc. and wouldn't take away from the rest of the park.

That said, I'd rather see them put Australia or South America on the large northern plot with more "real world" attractions. Wouldn't mind seeing them doing expansions to the existing lands as well.
I don't think Jungle Book is a bad fit at DAK at all. I think the park has a history of using appropriate animal based IP, but I'm not sure it would be the best fit for the current Asia section of the park. Perhaps the theme can be bent a bit if the expansion pad North of Asia is used.

How much time before the land opens will they start moving in trees, etc to fill up the land? It doesn't seem like something that can happen quickly..
on the contrary, Disney can landscape VERY quickly... just look over at F&G in EPCOT. to keep the color bright, they have to redo those beds often. but ALL the other exterior work has to be COMPLETE so they dont damage what vegitation they install

I also don't think Australia has adequate species diversity.
I actually don't think this is a ridiculous statement, but needs to be amended a bit. I don't think a walk through the size of Pangani Forest or Maharajah Jungle Trek would work/would be necessary. Many of the animals present in Australia are often displayed in zoos in smaller enclosures. I think a relatively compact indoor/outdoor viewing area with Kangaroos, Koalas, Dingos, Platypus, Tasmanian Devils, Wombats, etc would work.

I think this part of the project may not be the same as others since I am thinking this landscaping is going to be a mix of both real and artificial plants and may have a lot of lighting technology mixed in with them to get that bio-luminescent effect.

Do you guys expect that those pieces of rockwork (if that's what they are, it looks like it) will go inside of the ride? That's what I am thinking. I am also curious as to what those round black things in those rows to the bottomish right are.

Also, it looks like the last construction worker up on the building forgot to take the blueprint down with them. :p

There is still a lot of rockwork to go up on the outside in those pictures so it could be for either inside our out.

The black round things are the fans on the new chiller plant.

Haha, I thought they might've been growing some little plants. Turns out it's a different kind of plant.

Yes, I'm well aware. In fact, much of it is computerized now. I actually have no idea what it is but I assume it's nothing worth stealing. :D

Interesting permit today for Attraction Install. The address I have seen before connected with Flight of Passage. The contractor, DH Griffin , is not one I have seen before and they don't seem to do theme park related work. I do see on their web site that they do machinery moving and heavy rigging, so they may be installing the ride system.

The also do a lot of heavy demolition so maybe they have decided to scrap the Avatar idea. ;)

471 W Savannah Circle - Attraction Install

Pretty sure they are going to be installing the giant planet that will hang above the entire land.
Yup, that's gotta be it.

Yes, marsupials.
They're on the small side with the exception of grey and red kangaroos.
So, yeah - they don't display well like tigers, and various large herbivores do.
