So what do you guys think... Does Avatar have a place in Animal Kingdom? Personally I think it'll fit wonderfully, and will truly be WDW's Cars Land (but even better).
I've convinced myself that it mostly fits. Sure, it's not about Earth or anything real. But just as a part of the park is dedicated to extinct animals, a part can be dedicated to fantastical animals. Then real animals and mythical ones can be divided into their continents in the back of the park (as they currently are). Beastly Kingdom died the day that Everest opened, and so I think a land on fantasy is a neat idea.
Disney calls Avatar's animals mythical, which is debatable. A mythical animal is one that's been believed to be real at one point and has deep roots in culture, not in a 2009 sci-fi film. Banshees, I'm quite sure, are mythical. Na'vi are fantastical. Pandora's environment is fantastical. Avatar Banshees? That one is hard to say.
The movie tells a story about conservation and makes for an interesting environment, so I think it can be the center of the fantasy land. One day, maybe the Avatar simulator will be turned into a ride through Disney's animal-centric stories or something general like that. And then Avatar Land's environment will just be the basis for the fantasy land. Basically, if Disney has to shove their movies into the park, I'd rather them do it in this corner.
You can tell by this point that I'm really twisting things to convince myself, but I want to say it fits, and so this is helping me do that.
EDIT: That does not mean I love the idea. I think Navi are creepy. I hope Disney's Navi are covered up well.
