Please Enough already get off your soap box..If anything they are being forward thinking Avatar has Multiple sequals planned to be released around the time the land debuts..You bet your bippy after another 2 Billion in worldwide profits people will remember the characters..Damn the land isnt based on Characters at all..THE ENVIRONMENT IS THE MAIN CHARACTER..NATURE...thats why this is engenious..my 70 year old mother will see the beauty in that boat ride and it wont matter that she hasnt seen Avatar...I love it..was mixed upon announcement but now i am 100% on board and truly home that the Orlando Suits dont skimp n the funding and do this the right way

I've seen Avatar once (on TV) about a year ago. I can't even tell you the name of the main character without googling it. On the otherhand, I could probably rattle off the name of 40-50 individual Star Wars characters off the top of my head in less than 5 minutes. Even more interesting (to me), I have seen one Harry Potter film (once) and read none of the books, but I could name 5-10 characters from the series. Do you know why? Because the kids in my family wouldn't shut up about it for the past decade. That's an intellectual property with staying power.

Actually, it's good for Disney - it's a smart allocation of their resources. On the other hand, Avatar-land in their zoo, is not.
yeah i ll think ill go by stats that say avatar was about as successful as a movie can be instead of angry message board guy...are you at least going to give it a chance when it opens or just protest it when opening day the people are showing up in droves?

i was hoping we would get past these old debates lol...

If you take the land that CMM is currently on and include the open land behind it streatching down to Rainforest Café and out to the canal behind that area it comes out to be around 11 to 12 acres.

Many thanks! So we can expect this to be about the size of Marvel Superhero Island thats good to know!

The next time I'll be in WDW will likely be in the 2020s (unless a new Indiana Jones E-ticket gets built) - this has nothing to do with whether or not Avatarland is or is not built. The experience could be just like stepping into the movie and it still wouldn't make any sense in the Animal Kingdom park. The Tower of Terror is terrific, but if someone stuck it in Fantasyland, I'd say the same thing.

That's pretty large. I believe when they did FLE they said it doubled the size of Fantasyland from 10 to 21 acres so we are talking roughly the size of FLE. Anyone who has walked it knows that's a pretty big area.

Until the budget cuts.

So then how do you explain Pirates of the Caribbean next to Jungle Cruise? Or a Pennsylvania Dutch Gothic Revival Haunted Mansion across the river from a Southwestern USA mining town?

A great attraction is a great attraction regardless of who it's neighbors are.

Why don't you think it makes sense?
