Avatar construction aerial updates

It more than likely is. Looked like that about 2 weeks ago from the same spot.

Also Tom, you were saying the stairwell being in the middle of the building may mean that the plan changed. It looks like there are footings for upper floors to the south of the larger show building. It's still technically possible the stairwell is there for inclement weather protection versus outside the tilt-up walls.

It just means the back side may have steel exposed supports for the upper floors like this:

Wow - great picture. What's on the other side of the steel structure? Are those the start of the mountains? Looking good.

Assuming you are serious, that's the exposed back side of Radiator Springs at California Adventure. Unlike the backside of water, it's not fun to see.

Looking at the pictures and comparing them to the current concrete slap, the IASW show building is larger than the Pandora boat ride slab, but it's not a massive difference. The Pandora boat ride is maybe 80-85% the size of the IASW building. IASW at the MK is around 12-13 minutes in ride time, no?

I'm expecting the boat ride to be in the 8-10 minute length, which should be good -- and much needed -- in terms of immersion. I think it will be more (MK's) POTC than Maelstrom. I personally would be fine if it was entirely indoors especially if having an outdoor portion would cause the ride to close during rain.
I don't think a boat ride would have to close for rain. Thunder and lightning would be a big problem though.

Without drops or fast movement I think 8 minutes minimum sounds about right. About on par with Pirates.

I know at one point there was a rumor that the boat ride was going to be pushed back so it could be "upgraded". I remember a lot of people here getting upset about this because they thought the boat ride ride was being pushed to phase 2, and we know how often phase 2 happens as planned. I can remember was prompted this rumor.
Does anyone else remember this?

I really hope it is being upgraded, I am looking forward to it more than the flying screen-based ride, although I think it will be fun too.
pretty sure it was pheneix and then sort of confirmed by wdw1974

but then, dont take my word right now. I'm dizzy and tired. I have to say I survived FORBBIDEN JOURNEY at wizzarding word of harry potter.

I remember seeing interviews with Cameron exploring the Oceans like no one has before. I hope Cameron tops each movie when released the next three years.

didnt he do the movie THE ABYSS as well?

I think back in April Micechat.com ran an update saying the boat ride was cancelled due to budget overruns with MM+. In the Spirit thread at the time 74 said he was hearing some rumors that the ride could be in trouble and that Disney was postponing it for a phase 2 when they eventually could do it right. I think some others confirmed they were hearing rumors that the ride would be delayed and wouldn't open at the same time as the rest of the land (which still could happen).

The boat ride has been dead and revived more times than Avatarland itself.

Great photos! Best one of the steel I've seen yet.

They've started on the outermost wall of the E-Ticket, and are already setting some of the bar joists for the top deck. They are setting steel at a very aggressive pace - probably because this will be the shortest task before we start to see months (or a year) of themescaping.
thanks!

for those interested... the only way to have this good view is.. use the AKL bus. (from AKL to AK)
I did not see any other bus using that route today.
The other buses entered the other road.

For what it's worth, all Disney resort busses and cast members enter through that exact same road. Not sure why there aren't photos taken more regularly.

Great pictures - Hopefully people will keep taking pictures each week to see the progress - lots of good stuff going on at AK. Too bad there wasn't another way to get to AK from AKL besides the busses.

Yep, Hopefully the themescaping is better than Mysterious Island at DisneySea and CarsLand.I believe its the same person who did both of those projects.
