I have a feeling the queue will sort of be similar to the Transformers queue at Universal. When I say that, I think that the queue will likely be themed to their military base, which will likely be the extent of the queue similarities. Avatar's queue will obviously have a much different feel to it/different look, even if it is themed to a Military base. The one in the movie was fairly dark lighting wise if I remember correctly.

I really hope they do not go that route but instead focus on the natural world or Pandora It appears that the land is set after the time of the movie so most of the humans have left the planet leaving some wrecked military hardware which is scene in some of the concept art.

Yeah, makes sense. I forgot pretty much everything got destroyed. I would like to see some sort of military theming/influence, but I do also have to keep in mind that we're "in" Pandora.

I'm still waiting to hear the BS "story" component they will add to explain how/why we can breath (since humans can't breath on Pandora in the movie)...

Here's a higher-res version (someone asked).

Did someone say what the concrete in the middle of the image is going to be? They look like loading docks or boat docks right now and it looks like there is more to come to the left of them in the image. What about the symmetrical area below that? What are those grey curved beams? May be a staging area for framing out the roots pictured in the model?

No story was even needed to explain why we can breath underwater on the Little Mermaid Ride.

Not sure about those dock looking areas. There doesn't appear to be any foundations or support columns above them in the image which would lead me to believe the areas between the fingers are open to the outside. The area below them is the Soarin' ride, the foundations are a perfect match to what was in the leaked plans.

seems like north of the E/C ticket building would be all mountains

Thank you @danlb_2000. As always, you are a kind and patient poster. I guess we will just have to watch that area that looks likes docks. If it is under the queue for the E ticket then why not a complete fill. If it is to hold up supports for concrete mountains that makes a little more sense.

From the photos, the larger structures like the simulator and boat rides, as well as the foundations for the floating mountains, are fairly obvious. I am trying to figure out where there is any evidence of an eating establishment or any other buildings for merch and whatnot. I am wondering how much of that will even be here due to the nature of this project. I'll bet that one of the shops/buildings to visit will have something similar to Memento Mori where you can have a photo taken that renders what your avatar equivalent would look like. I would think that they would sell nicely.

As far as shops and smaller edifices, would you need pilings for those types of structures or are they not needed for structures under a certain size/dimension/weight? Would paved walkways also need this type of support structure in the ground?

On that type of land, you need pilings for anything you don't want to sink into the ground. Goes for skyscrapers as well as 2 bedroom houses or a 2-car garage. Take it from a guy who lives in a swamp too (in a town with quite a lot of sinking problems), just a little northwest along the Gulf Coast. :)

Yeah, but that's a dark ride, this is a whole "World". Avatar fans (yes they exist) know and have already pointed out on many articles i've seen about the land about being able to breathe on the planet.

How does this ride differ over the Soarin ride? What enhancements?
If I am understanding correctly, it loads on different levels and each separate level has separate arms, versus the connected arm of the Soarin' system.

But what possibilities does that open up to make this ride different than Soarin?
