Speaking of the coaster... if the land is a success, do you think there's any chance they would expand to add the coaster?

I wonder if the land AND the movies are commercially successful that they would consider adding the coaster. Even a scaled down version would still be another ride addition to a park everyone else says needs more rides.

My own attempt at superimposing one of the leaked layouts, this one with the internal section of the boat ride. Looks like it fits, and interesting to see where the outdoor boat ride will go.

I don't think they really need to worry about the movies being successful... at least Avatar 2. The first movie made $2.7B. You don't make that much money and not have a successful sequel imo. They will do a really ramped up marketing campaign i'm sure and people go see it purely out of interest and to be entertained... sort of like the Transformers movies.

As to whether they will eventually expand the land... you have to hope if everything goes great that Cameron may push to expand, but who knows.

Also, i'd love Sigourney Weaver in like a queue video or something, sort of like how Patrick Warburton does soarin'. But her character died right? So that would be kind of weird lol

I agree completely about having someone from the movie. I was thinking that nerdy scientist guy that learned Na'vi but wasn't as coordinated in his avatar as Jake was.

My only thought concerning the movie was to determine how successful the continuation of the franchise would need to be to consider adding more to this expansion. We saw how crazy successful DA was (along with the books and movies) yet UNI's expectations were so crazy that they are now apparently slashing budgets on other projects.

I can see them writing a scene possibly between both of them for a preshow or something. You'd have to think Jake would be a top contender for them to use if they use anyone from the movies. I mean, he was the main lead pretty much.

And idk, we'll see about future Avatar expansion. Who knows, once the new movies come out, maybe people will actually care about the franchise. But let's let them get the actual land built first before doing too much expansion talk haha.

Your guess is as good as mine. Really depends on a million factors. If this takes off in a HP or Cars type way, maybe...

That said, the two main attraction model has proven to be a winner. It's most apparent in the perennially favourite tokyo disney sea. American Waterfront, Mysterious Island, Lost River Delta, Arabian Coast and sort of Port Discovery all adhere to this principle of an E + D ticket. It works very well. Eventually as the park matures - go around the park and slowly add a third main draw to every land.

Animal kingdoms problem has always been it should have started closer with the 2 attraction per land model, not taken 20 years to get there.

maybe im completely off but it seems those two circles and one square in front of the show buildings are where the big "floating mountains" are going
Thinking the same thing. It looks like deep anchor points for the large arch vines that will hold up the floating mountains.

She is supposedly coming back. Not sure how they are pulling that off, but it does make her appearance in the land a possibility.

Not so sure on success of sequel, Avatar was unique in it was the first successful 3D picture so the 3D Eye candy drove a lot of that box office. It really did not have an effect on popular culture. It's entirely possible the second incarnation will not do well at the box office as 3D pictures are now an everyday thing so the novelty factor is gone.

To be a success the second Avatar is going to need a lot stronger story and better character development because the basic story is 'Ferngully' or as some of the more cynical of us called it 'Blue Pocahontas'.

Cameron DID take film making to the next level with the effects in this movie but the movie was ABOUT the effects the story was secondary. Now that 3D is an established technique the next one will need to rely on the story and character development. That is unless Cameron manages to pull off holographic projection in which case all bets are off.

Yes it was OT but there is a subthread of 'Avatar 2 is a sure thing at the box office', My question is what happens to the LAND if the film bombs, Remember this is both a CEO vanity project which is designed to 'synergize' with the release of Avatar 2 (3?).

So in the event of a box office #FAIL what becomes of 'Pandora' are the rides cut back even further than they are today. It's well known I'm not a fan of this IP - but we REALLY do need something else in AK and I'm afraid if the film fails so does the land.

Say what you want about the quality of Cameron’s movies. But he is always at the forefront in effects and spectacle, and he has never made a complete bomb. He always finds a way to make movies that are perfect suited for the cinematic landscape in which they are released and that appeal to the masses.

Anything is possible of course, but I’d say with Cameron’s track record, and today’s blockbuster centric movie landscape, it’s highly unlikely to bomb. I can see it being a critical disappointment, but if that had any impact on box office or popularity we wouldn’t still be suffering through Transformers movies.
