I frequent the world many a time throughout the year, but being a floridian I avoid the parks in August as much as possible. A friend of mine wants to take a short trip to Florida next week and wants to go to Disney of course. What are the crowds like Mid-August (3rd week in)? Are we crazy to even attempt going?

No not at all...if you can deal with the HEAT then the crowds are NOTHING. We have been this time frame for the past 2 years and will be there in 13 days and already planning for the same time frame for 2012!!! :sohappy: Have a blast and no fears!!!

August is the best time to go during the summer. They heat may be bad... but crowds are fantastic. Especially around the time you're going. Last year, I went to Disney last year during the third week of August and let me tell you, besides the heat, our trip was great! Crowds were so unbelieveably low for summer! You don't have to worry.

This is great news for me! We're heading down for a week on August 20th, and I couldn't be more excited. I don't mind the heat - I live in NC, and our temperatures have been hotter than Orlando (at least according to my weather app). Thanks for sharing!

From what I noticed on these boards, a lot of people will be going during this timeframe... Including myself.

2 years ago I went in the 3rd week of August. It was warm, but not over bearing. The crowds were nice as well. The one thing that ruined my trip (that I never thought of) was a pleasant tropical storm that rolled in 2 days before we flew out. It circled over Orlando for 5 of 7 days and really ruined our time at Disney.

I am in the World right now in SSR. The crowds are not bad at all. I have yet to see any major tour groups in the parks. Waits are reasonable, heat isnt TOO bad. The low tonight is 77* and EMH is 3am at MK. Should be a fun time. I would tell them no worries.

i live in miami, fl, which is 3 hours away or so from orlando, and it is hot lol. I dont think though you need to worry about the crowds except for splash mountain b/c everyone is trying to cool off its always packed haha.

Last year we were at WDW during the second-third week of August and the crowds were healthy, but the parks weren't packed by any stretch of the imagination. Three years ago we went during the third week of August, and there were virtually no crowds. This year, we're going during the last week, and don't anticipate any major crowding.

It's actually a GREAT time to go if crowds are a concern! We were the the 3rd week of August last year and was pleasantly surprised by the lack of crowds.

We went 2 years ago the third week and I was sooo surprised at the low crowds...go to find out Southern schools start that week! It was sooo manageable and enjoyable that we will be going again the same week- actually 14 days!!!! The heat is high, but we r from Philly and its been in the 100s this summer, so Florida should be a breeze! Looking forward to it! ENJOY! You will actually get to "see" the world, not crowds!
