OK... so we're all excited. We all know the soft opening for Mission: Space is in August. We all know Gary Sinese is part of the ride and we all know it's going to be a great ride...
So... How many of you are going to be there August 15?
Because, I don't know anyone this board who isn't excited as hell about the ride opening up, but I also know many of you live all over the country... not in Florida and certainly not in Orlando.
Who's gonna be there?

Soft opening

Okay, the "rumors" around the board are stating that the official opening for M:S will be August 15th, This is not true that is the biggining of te soft openings and the grand opening will be in October. I got this information from some Cast members at Test Track.

October is the official opening at this point. August is just previewing to work out any other kinks from what I understand.

My husband, cousins, aunt and I will be there from Aug. 20-25. I hope to be able to catch the soft opening. If I am able to I will definetly let everyone know. (Although I am sure someone will beat me to the 1st ride)

Since I'm going on the WDW College Program in the fall, I got the low-down on M:S ...

August 15th will officially be the soft opening. However, it will only be open to cast members. There is no word whether or not they will open it to guests until the official opening in October. So, if you really want to get on when you go down, go in October because if you go before, they might not have opened it yet to guests.

I know that I WON'T be there - just had my holiday so its gonna be a couple of years before my next visit  - I'm expecting to read some good reports though.

Heading for the great escape.
Having consulted my precision planning list, I can confirm that on the 15th Ill actually be visiting the Magic Kingdom, and won’t be heading to Epcot till the following week.

However contrary to what has been written above buy a future Disney Employee I would hope that at some point in my stay that I would get the chance to experience the ride. The term soft opening, buy using the word opening implies that the attraction will be indeed open, as in not closed. Now this may mean that the ride is not operating at 100% or giving its full show but ill except what I can get.

Count me in, as long as I make enough money this summer to go. If there will be a lot of us there, maybe we can all meet up when the park opens and check it out.

Interesting, interesting...

Yeah, I haven't renewed my season pass yet, but I get teh feeling the new blockout dates are probably going to end arpound August 15... in fact, looking at my calendar, August 15 is a Friday... which is when the blockout dates usually end... it's also what Disney preceives to be the end of their busy season and the start of their slower one ... a great time to put what will be a very complicated, very popular ride through it's paces.

Anyway, I don't know what will happen because I'm not a CM and I don't have inside sources and I'm not Mikey Eisner. All I know is this...
If I'm still in Florida in August... and I still have my pass... I'm going.
Because, the way I look at it is this... If I go to Epcot to ride M:S and it's open, I'll be one of the first to ride what will probably be the best theme park ride ever. And, if it's not open then, darn, I have to spend the day in Epcot. Because I hate having to do that.

We will be there. It just happens to coinside with our summer vacation, Aug 13 to 22. So when I heard the soft opening was set for the 15th I am hoping we will be able to make it on it at least once during the trip. (all be it we will have to "baby swap" since 2 year old DD will be with us.)

Maybe we will get lucky, if not were going again in Jan.

I find it hard to believe that Disney would publicly announce a date for an opening of a ride (even a soft opening) and then not allow guests on it. The official M:S site states that it will be open on August 15th, and pretty much every news website reported that you can ride it on August 15th. Disney is in for one heck of a PR nightmare if this ride is only open to CM's on that day.

From what I understand, the ride will be open on August 15. I don't understand why this is such a point of contention. the ride will soft open on August 15th and the official opening is going to be in October or whenever... it's not this is the first time WDW has soft opened a ride then officially opened it at a later date.
This is not a difficult concept to grasp, folks.
