Everyone going out to buy Star Wars on DVD tomorrow? I know I am! I plan on being at Toys "R" Us when they open at 9. In their flyer in the sunday newspaper it said they were selling AOTC on DVD (widesceen and fullscreen) and VHS for the lowest price I've seen anywhere...9.99! Oh.. I am so excited. I sure DarthDarryl will be going out to buy his copy!

Best Buy is selling it for 15.99 and for the first like.. 100 customers or something like that you get a free Star Wars calander. But.. thats not a deal for me cus I already have the calander they are giving out.. so 10.00 is good :)

That's what I love about Amazon.com. I've had Episode II on pre-order for a couple of months, and it shipped on Thursday, so I should have it tomorrow, without waiting in line! ;)

OK, so I'm lazy. I just hate going out to shop.

Hmm, you might want to double check that. On their website, they are advertising it on VHS for $15.99.

Well, sorry to upset you - but I had already watched my copy by the time you'd started this thread. Star Wars II - UK release 11/11/02. I just wish our prices were as cheap as yours.

I've been doing research for the last hour on the prices, and from what I've found, the toys r us $9.99 is indeed true, and is running till November 20th......

and Wal-Mart is having that big midnight madness deal, but I don't know the details......

GaryT997 - The cheapest DVD price I found was £18.99 which if you work on the current exchange rate is somewhere around $13
Celticdog - No we have to make do with the original "American" version
Disney_nutter - Where on earth (or rather where in the galaxy) did you get a DVD at £11.99 ??????? (Its not dropped off the back of a lorry has it ??)

got one today for $9.84 at Best Buy. They are matching WalMart's price until they run out, then back to regular price. PLUS, a free calendar ($11 value) for free. Don't know if it's just our local Best Buy.

Well, my Best Buy totally blew me off with my Toys R Us ad. They said that Toys R Us was out of them so they weren’t honoring it. What they didn’t know is that I had just come from Toys R Us across the street and they still had plenty of the DVDs left, just none in wide screen. I had a wide screen in my hand when I went up to customer service so I asked them point blank if they were telling me that they weren’t honoring the price of any Episode 2 DVD’s because Toys R Us was totally out of all of them. The girl looked at me like I was an idiot and said “Yes” so I suggested we give them a call together and find out. She said no because they already knew Toys R Us was sold out. At that point I did my “HAH!” and said that I’d just come from Toys R Us and unless they had a mad frenzy around five minutes ago, they still had a good number of DVDs left. She then told me that they had gotten a call from “corporate” telling them not to honor the Toys R Us price. I asked to see written evidence of this because she was standing right in front of their price match plus 10% off sign as we were talking and this situation was clearly not covered in the “exclusions” listed there. She said that she didn’t have any and that they weren’t price matching so I asked for the number to the corporate office to complain. She gave it to me and I left. I then went across the street to Circuit City (almost right next to Toys R Us) and went in there with my ad all ready for an argument. The guy saw me taking the ad out of my pocket and said “Toys R Us?” and I said yes. He held out his hand to take the DVD from me and said “$9 plus tax – we beat their price by 10%”…

Needless to say I was really livid with Best Buy once I got out of Circuit City. For the amount of running around I had done up to that point back and forth across the street I could have just spent the lousy five bucks but it was the principle of the whole thing at that point. I specifically went to Best Buy because I don’t like Circuit City and Best Buy are the ones that gave me grief!

To add insult to injury, I didn’t even really care for the movie all that much. I went to see it in the theater because it was the first movie in my area to be projected on a digital screen. The only reason I chose to buy it was because I could get it for $10 and at that price it was worth it for the technical stuff that I’m interested in and for the whole digitally shot, digitally played stuff. All this hassle for a movie I didn’t even care that much about. I think I lost a few years off my life tonight.
