Atlantis Water Park

I'm sailing out of NYC to the Bahamas next August. One of our ports is Nassau. I wanted to go to the water park at Atlantis while on shore. The shore excursions I see listed that allow you to use the water park are included with other acitvities which are, although great, rather pricey. Or at least more expensive than I would like to spend. Is there a shore excursion just to use the water park that I am missing or can I go there on my own? TIA.

The cheapest Atlantis port adventure that includes the waterpark is the Atlantis Aquaventure:
http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/cruises-destinations/shore-excursions/nassau/atlantis-aquaventure/

It's listed as $169, the others with the dolphin encounter and other options are more expensive. Not sure on getting there on your own, I have read there are cheaper ways but haven't found anything definite. I am going this Fall for my honeymoon and plan on doing the Aquaventure shore excursion. I figure since it includes lunch and transportation (which means not having to worry about missing the boat!) it is worth it. And who knows, maybe after the waterpark I will hit the casino and win big. haha!

We've done it another way!

If you book a room at the Comfort Suites in Nassau, you have full access to the water park. Our room was $149ish (prices vary greatly depending on the season and what not).

So for four people we saved a fortune.:)

It was awesome and worth every penny. We caught a cab to Comfort Suites and checked in and out at the same time. We walked to Atlantis across the street and showed our receipt at the towel booths. They gave us a wristband and towel and we had a wonderful day.

I looked into that for the 4th of July weekend....it showed rates of over 400 a night .

We've only visited Atlantis once (we were staying at a resort in Nassau), but we still joke about the 'not so lazy river.' The place was PACKED and the info we were given was that it was due to the cruise ship visitors.

Maybe we need to revisit this as an option though!

Yep, that's definitely the price at times. I would advise you to watch it though. The rates do change, sometimes for the better. It probably won't go down in July, but you never know!

As an aside, I've stayed at Atlantis, so have to chuckle (silently) when people start complaining about the prices at WDW.

I also found that we had to time our usage due to the cruise ships. Early morning/later in the afternoon were fine. Midday? No way!

But the same can be said at most ports of call. I remember the daily party boat that arrived at our resort in the USVI way back when.
