All Disney thrill rides are "family rides" according to Disney. Every ride Disney builds will exclude someone, so they have to build rides catering to everyone--even rides like the Tower of Terror still cater to everyone over age 5, and most people between the ages of say 7 and 67 love it. Just watch the vacation planning video! SURE Grandpa wants to ride the Tower of Terror!!!
Well my 42 year old Brother Michael CAN`T Ride TOT or any roller coaster, So I guess if they get rid of all the "SLOW" rides then there will be no reason for him to Pay out the cash to go! as it is it is my brother who has paid for me to go every time and he has always paid for atleast 10 or more people!:(

There is no risk of Disney replacing all of its slow rides with thrill rides. That was never and will never be an issue. But, there does need to be a balance of thrill rides and slow rides at Epcot. As I see it, this will be the plan:

1) Add Time Racers--moderately fast, but not intense
2) Add a Soarin' attraction--the best attraction at Disney's California Adventure, yet not intense at all, this would also replace nothing, but be the fourth pavilion for Future World West--no one wils complain about this addition.

I went the busiest day of the year in later december and there was only a little over a hour wait.
ONLY over an hour wait??  As I have said that is TOO long and wont go on it if it`s over a 45 minute wait! that not only goes for Disney but all other parks aswell!

No they didn't. It was "temporary" when they were building it. And most guests do like it

It's kept by popular demand btw...

I think the problem is was that it was not designed to be there and it feels kinda crammed in. unlike MK Castle,SSE and Tree of Life.

It could be a reason that the HAT is still there because people have to get used to the idea that that specific area will allways be occupied...

Wether it`s pretty or not,I just don`t like the idea of the chinese theatre being blocked I always looked forward to seeing the theatre when I walked through those gates. It`s like going to Magic Kingdom Expecting to see the beautiful Cinderellas castle as you walk down Main street only to have it blocked by a huge hat!

I don`t think he was saying that Disney didn`t want thrill rides ofcourse he did,but he didn`t dismantle old rides to do it.YEs there is a place in Disney for thrill rides,I for one love thrill rides, but not at the expense of the family rides, like the Haunted mansion,Spaceship earth and The Pirates of the caribbean! If they dismantle all the family rides and just put up thrill rides Disney will Cease to be a Theme park and will settle for amusement park, which I pray never happens.

Thank you! Finally someone who has enough sense to read a post and understand it! Someone who has some understanding and foresight about Disney's future---what a relief!:D Plus well put on stating that the replaced attractions were not truly classics like Spaceship Earth!

I remember reading a Dogsrules! somewhere that said that it would be cool to have timeracers that goes 50 mph from the top. Now again, if someone had some foresight and common sense, they would be able to see that Spaceship Earth's space can not support a 50 mph drop from the top to the bottom in less than 0.2 seconds! Wow now that sounds like a thrill to me!!!   Like I said: no foresight, no foresight, no foresight.

Back to the original original question

From the April 3-16 edition of Eyes and Ears in the Word on the Street Column.

Q: I've heard that we've been losing corporate partners and sponsors. Is this true?

A: It's true that we've had several recent changes among our sponsorship and alliance programs.

Beginning new relationships and saying goodbye to previous partners who decide to go different directions with their marketing dollars is part of the business.

We always wish our former partners well and look foward to developing mutually beneficial relationships with new partners.

We have recently formed relationships with several new parnters, including Kellogg's, Frito-Lay, Visa and Bank One.

Long-term partners, such as Smuckers and Coppertone, have expanded and activated their sponsorships, and AT&T HAS EXPRESSED INTEREST IN CONTINUING THEIR ASSOCIATION WITH US BEYOND OUR PREVIOUS AGREEMENT.

Hewlett Packard is very enthusiastic about the opening of their sponsored attraction, Mission:Space at Epcot, later this year.

We greatly value our sponsorship and alliance relationships, as they help us strategically diversify our organization.

It doesn't sound like AT&T has renewed yet. Sounds like talks and discussions about continuing is as far as its gotten.

The same person with the Disney foresight who said the 20-30 foot drops on Splash Mountain and the 20+ foot drop on Kali River Rapids are speed bumps? 50 mph is the top speed. Being that it is rougly a 150 foot drop, and RnR has a 200 foot launch tunnel and accelerates far faster than the speed of gravity, yet still manages to stay in the tunnel for several seconds, this drop would take some time. How do you propose getting guests from the top to the bottom without removing any floors? Spaceship Earth will be changed. You are only kidding yourselves...if you don't trust me, trust Corrus. He knows a hell of a lot more than any of you.

This is a tad harsh.....

If you dont agree with someone thats fine but to put others down is unacceptable. These boards are meant to discuss these things not to attack others. You cant blame people for questioning these boards and people on here since you dont know me from Bill Gates!

I'm not the first person to tell people they are wrong due to what Corrus said--and I used pretty similar wording purposefully:

"Actually, according to Corrus, there will be cast previews for this ride, and he knows more than any of us. I'm pretty sure mktiggerman was saying he was hoping there would be. And, uh, for the record, Corrus also stated that the chances for riding before August 15th are about 2%, thus reinforcing the OFFICIAL DISNEY ANNOUNCEMENT." --Main Street USA

That's assuming that Corrus is even a reliable source.... If I recall correctly he was stating over and over that Everest was just a rumor and NOTHING had the green light for AK.

Plus one other thing. You all do know that Spaceship Earth is THE most visited attraction at WDW. The fact that it has little to no line most of the time is more a testament to how efficient the omnimover ride system rather than a lack of popularity.

The two guys you all trust, MKTiggerman and Main Street USA would argue Corrus is reliable...

I meant what you said was phrased a little harsh. You could of just said he was somewhat reliable and why....I am still new to these boards and dont know that many people.........

OK guys lets not argue of who's reliable and who believe's who. We all have our opinions on things, so let's leave it at that.

Thanks :)
