Arrival Day Lunch suggestions

I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas about where to have lunch on the day of arrival. Since we arrive about 11AM , by the time we get to our resort (WL) and check in and all it will be lunchtime. All suggestions welcome. Thanks.

How about the Whispering Canyon Cafe. The food is good and the staff will instantly put you into the Disney Spirit.

Whispering Canyon in WL should be perfect to get you right into the mood of having fun at WDW. It is also very convenient for you.

Id reccomend eating somewhere in your resort so your not rushed to get to an ADR in one of the parks

Thank you for the suggestions. We are going to Whispering Canyon on our last day, so anything other than that would be good. Sorry, I should have mentioned that in my question.

If you want to get out and wander around a little but not too much then how about hopping on the Fort Wilderness boat from WL and heading over to the Trail's End Buffet?

It will give you a chance to walk around FW which is a very relaxing fun place to expore. The boat ride only takes about 5-10 minutes.

I would agree with not making an ADR in one of the parks for your first lunch there. Last time we did that we were really rushed and it was not fun.

If not Whispering Caynon, I would do the Ft. Wilderness idea, or mayhaps do something like the Kona Cafe at the Poly. something low key.

In that case, perhaps a nice boat ride to MK and hop on a monorail to either GF, Poly, or Contemporary. There are a lot of options that way. GF has the cafe. Poly has Kona. I am not sure if the Concourse is still open at the Contemporary. That might be a good idea since it might be the last time you could eat there. :wave:

Roaring Fork at WL is a great choice for a counter service lunch, especially if you're on the DDP and want to save your table service credit for dinner. By the time you check in, you'll probably be hungry and not want to travel anywhere else to eat first. I highly recommend it.

I agree. We normally have a light lunch at our resort than head to DTD for dinner!

I'd go with the Roaring Forks. It's the fast food place at WL and is my youngest son's favorite restaurant in all of WDW! Of course, it appears the chicken strips he loves may no longer be there

I would head to MK and go to Casey's. :slurp:
If you are not going to the parks on arrival day then Earl of Sandwich at DTD is a great place to have lunch.

Roaring Forks is great! They have great salads and sandwiches that are light after traveling. Another great suggestion someone made was Poly. Their food court is Captain Cooks - I think. It has an amazing adult grilled cheese and the pulled pork sandwich is awesome, too! You might enjoy the relaxing boat rides. It's a great way to "see" the Magic Kingdom without going in. You could even leave the Poly and take a go around on the monorail before going back to WL.

Boma!!!

How about heading over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and going to Boma for lunch. One of my favorite restaurants at Disney these days. Great restaurant, and you can easily spend a bunch of hours watching the animals. They have a pretty good pool too. Neat resort.

If you want to sit down for a bit Whispering Canyon is great (get the skillet). If not goto Roaring Forks for something quick. You could always go to WC for dinner instead.

I guess it would depend on whether you plan on going to a park or not and if you want to eat TS or CS. I personally don't plan any TS on my arrival day b/c you just never know what will happen, what time you'll get there, if you've already eaten or not, etc. I wouldn't want to miss my ADR if I had one! I like figuring out where I'm going to eat when I get there (what ever time that may be)! Now for the rest of my vacation I love having my ADRs in place!:animwink:

If you're heading out to a park right away might I suggest Sunshine Seasons in the Land pavillion at Epcot or if you're going to the MK the Columbia Harbour House can be quite nice!

Of course having lunch at your resort can be convienent and quieter than the parks (sometimes)!
