Sure. There was even a full Frozen overlay of the Matterhorn - adding Elsa and Marshmallow to the ride - proposed, but scrapped because a Frozen ride with a height requirement is a non-starter.

Yes, of course they would. If Matterhorn didn't have a height requirement, it would have been toast for a cheap way to shove in the IP.

I know the controversial rumor is “Is Frozen going to ruin The Matterhorn” but the real intent of my original post was to address ANY expansion utilizing the motorboat lagoon and potentially the subs too, and how to handle the monorail in those cases.

Not to give them any ideas but couldn’t they accomplish this with new ride vehicles and slowing down the sleds?

Retheming the Matterhorn to Frozen would be enough for me to not renew my pass and probably not visit DL for a while. It would be a huge statement and kind of like the exclamation point on top of current regimes direction of the parks. It would be an incredibly bold and ignorant move.

The cost involved in altering the ride system would be prohibitive and make the cheap overlay moot. It’s a gravity coaster - I’m not sure it’s even plausible to change it.

I can’t believe that retheming a 60 year old attraction is even on the table for their gabillion dollar blockbuster.

It would be great if they could cram it into the motorboat cruise area with maybe the northern 1/3 of Autopia. Maybe leave the FL theatre for a BATB ride.

I have not seen any specific land plans, but that area does seem small. I would expect any expansion there to overtake Autopia, which has just about outlived its usefulness and takes up a huge amount of space.
