Nope. I don't see a point to buying it for myself. The standby lanes will still be open, just get there early, do the park and then back to the resort or hop for other entertainment options.

I think I'll be taking a similar approach.

I could maybe justify occasionally doing it, if I was local AP holder, but as an international visitor who will doing a two week stay, it would be $210 upcharge on my stay just for the standard option, not taking into to account extra $$ for the per attraction option - without ticket or resort prices coming down.

Maybe it’ll be more valuable than I’m imagining, but frankly I don’t see much of an advantage for this over just getting there early and continuing to use Touring Plans. I don’t like the idea of paying an up-charge in advance for something that, in my perception, won’t be a guaranteed value. (And as far as the per-ride line-skip charge, I almost never make impulse purchases like that.)

But who knows? Maybe it’ll end up being really helpful if they can more easily control crowd dispersement. No judgment on those who buy it, I just don’t know if it’s for me.

No unless it's incorporated into the new annual pass program and it's not $500 more a year than the current passes. I have a family of 7 so $105 per visit and we average 40 visits a year that is an extra $4200 a year (on top of the cost of our Platinum passes) we will pass on the new Genie + for our family.

Others will pay but I wont especially when we average $130+ a visit between food/snacks, and gifts. When we do our stays (average 20-25 nights a year we spend even more DVC owners on food, snacks, gifts, ect...).

At some point it may not be now but you can bet our next big economic downturn this will come back to haunt Disney the regular folks that Disney relies on will stop paying and stop coming. Disney will be an expense the majority of us will have to cut out. It will happen it’s just a matter of time we all have a breaking point some sooner than others but Disney is approaching that threshold.

I am surprised more people are not in this thread, we have been talking about this for months, now we have our answer.

To be honest, this is better than I expected. There was so much speculation before about what the new "fastpass" was going to be, and the only info we had was what Paris was doing. I hated it and I stopped looking forward to my trip because I felt so angry at Disney. However, I don't think this is that bad. $15 is lower than I was expecting. I'm assuming getting to the parks early and doing the best rides right away, followed by using the app to "book" rides the rest of the day, is going to work out pretty well. Also, I think I'd only use it for MK and maybe AK. We will have to see how this actually works once it's implemented! I also have high hopes that the people at Touring Plans will come up with a solution for all of us. Maybe they will figure out when to use Genie+, when not to, plans with it, plans without, plans for people who want to pay for individual attractions, etc. That gives me hope!

Have to see what the new options for Annual passes are before I decide for sure. I’ll more than likely try it on one of my day trips.

No
Probably...
The price isn't terrible, although we don't know how much the headliners will cost.
It would definitely be helpful on my very short weekend trips.

I wouldn't pay for it ahead of time but if I'm there for a week and have had some bad luck the first few days I may pay to get on some more rides. I'll miss regular fast pass but I definitely won't miss having to plan out 3 rides per day months before I'm even there.

I said yes, for everyday because I have no idea if it will even be here for our October trip and if it is, I don't think I will have enough time to read other people's experiences and see if they truly needed it or not.

We are going in October, we aren't cancelling (over this at least), so we decided to we are going to purchase and try to have a great trip. We haven't been since 2017 and who knows when we will go again.

Do I love paying extra? No, but I also realize upcharges are here to stay (in most businesses) so I need to learn how to use it to my advantage.

So you don't think you can still rope drop the popular attractions, like FoP or 7DMT, without paying for Genie?
You can't rope drop Rise of the Resistance, which is the better comparison IMO.

My gut says: Tron/Rat/Guardians, you're going to have to pay up. It remains to be seen whether Rise has staying power once those things open.

Everything else, I think people are vastly overreacting.

You really aren't going to have much choice when it comes down to it if you intend to ride attractions. A day without it is going to be problematic to say the least.
If this turns out to be true, that is a very sad state of affairs. Sure, I understand paying for added accessibility, but to essentially shut out everyone else as you suggest is unacceptable.

I really hope so.

If it sticks to the top or newer attractions, it's tolerable. I consider Rise, Tron and Guardians, and FoP all top attractions. If rides like Pirates, Splash, Space, and Mansion are available through Genie+ I can see the benefit. If they are considered top tier and have a pay pass I don't see the value

One thing I am happy about is not having to FP's 60+ days out. Trying to match my FP's and dining reservations was often a major hassle for me.

One thing that I thinks sucks is that now they are almost incentivized to build attraction with a lower capacity. It creates scarcity and demand that they can turn around to charge to experience the attractions. This may not come to pass, but it is my worst fear with this new system.

I was dreading what the lines we're going to look like without FP for our trip in October. We take a big extended family trip to WDW every two years or so, so IMO it's worth it to pay a little bit to make the most out of it because who knows the next time we'll be back.

If I was a local who went more often, then yeah I wouldn't see the need for it.

Why do you think that lower capacity, E level attractions, are all that they have built recently - and nixed anything that will eat people, like the Main St Theatre that was supposed to be built? Do you not think they have been moving towards this for years???
