You said, and I quote: "If I want to go on a LL attraction, I have to pay and I don't even have the ability to select the time I wish to ride."

That is factually incorrect, in three different ways.

1. There is no such thing as a "LL" attraction. There are Genie+ attractions, and there are Individual Attraction purchases.

2. You cannot schedule Genie+ attractions, but you don't pay for those individually, either.

3. You do have to pay for Individual Attraction purchases, but you CAN schedule them.

I dont think anyone is confused with not being able to pick a time.. but its not all open to your whims. schecdule will be like the old fp with options available.

I can't say how I really feel about Disney finding yet another way to gouge us. If I did the admins would (justifiably) delete my post.
This scheme is like a drug dealer getting someone addicted by providing free drugs (free fastpasses) and then once you are addicted to it THEN they start charging you more and more.

Pandemic was the perfect excuse.

Super disappointed in this plan. WDW creates a problem by not offering enough hours/attractions/capacity/entertainment and then turns around and charges more to do the things your entrance cost should already include. The most egregious is when they note that someone makes a special trip to ride ROR, but when they get closed out of boarding groups, "we give them the opportunity to buy their way on." That's disgusting.

Especially when, to make spots available to sell, they will have to reduce the number of "free" spots.

(Yeah, I know they aren't free.)

Dl has had paid fastpass for years. It hasnt hurt them. The only difference now is that 2 rides per park are going to be a separate price. I for one will pay the 15 and then wait in the standby line for the other ones. Also universal has express pass which is 70 a day and I don't hear anyone complaining about that.

Because you can get it for free if you stay at one of their Deluxe hotels and not enough people pay out of pocket for it to impact the stand-by lines (except for the HHN version).

The hotel version is also unlimited access and the paid for option does not charge you extra for specific rides.

I get it doesn't charge u extra for specific rides. But each park will have 2 rides that are extra. Even if it is the top end at $24 then that comes out to the same $70 universal charges. Personally I would pay the 15 as its basically maxpass which I have done before. I won't pay for the extra rides tho, I will use standby.

I will gladly pay for the extras if (and only if) it's worth it.

The Universal Express pass isn't comparable to what Disney is offering. It costs a lot more because you get a lot more -- it usually costs more than $70, actually.

The unlimited version (which is only $20-30 more than the regular version, and is included with your room if you're staying at one of their deluxe hotels) lets you get on rides whenever you want as often as you want. There's no scheduling a return time and no limit to how often you can use it. You just walk up to a ride and go through the special queue and get on. If you want to ride it again immediately, you can. You could ride something 15 times in a row if that's what you wanted to do.

If Disney offered anything similar, they'd probably need to charge $500+ a day for it. It doesn't really make sense to compare them because they're very different systems.

This is tough, so many people have lost jobs throughout this pandemic, the one thing that they may be dreaming of is a trip to the magic, and this makes it so much harder for larger families , but when a bottle of water costs $5.50 are we surprised ?, the let down for me is that they are now in the same line as universal studios, and that's just crap, id rather they added onto park admissions than have another pay extra service, at least its more hidden, and stick to fast pass,

More $$$$ is the big difference.
$60 a day for a family of 4.......10 days =$600.
That really sucks, to use a system that was free for decades.
Not to mention the extra holds that WDW will be using for extra paid line jumpers, further reducing capacity for non-payers.
Damn, I thought Iger was bad.
1. You're NOT "using a system that was free for decades." Using a limited product is a better experience than using a product that EVERYONE has access to. It's paying $15 to swim in a pool with 20 people versus a free pool with 200 people.

2. There is no capacity "held" for "paid line jumpers." The Individual Attractions that you can purchase are not part of Genie+.

Remember the days when if you stayed at the world, park tickets were inc, its been changing for 25 years or so, you have the skyliner now, new rides costing near on $1billion, the running costs must be sky high, just wish they look after familys a bit more, maybe a family off 4 $25 A DAY, but its tough to take, and I'm from the uk , and i travel with my wife, we can afford it ( just ) cos we stay 7 days now instead of 2 weeks, a 2 week stay with lightning pass would be to much i feel, but to be honest we'd cut back on other things through the year so we could afford it, its difficult though, no one likes prices to go up, its getting more difficult for sure looking at deals for end next year. good post though.

I suspect real drugs are less expensive and more fun.

It also doesn't require much at all in the way of cell phone usage.
