Are we gonna melt pre TR

Hi,

we just booked a trip for the world for August 25-September 4th. I thought I'd post details as they develop.

since our december trip which I wrote a TR about, we have been tossing around the idea of going again this time with the kids. A few new things have been affecting our thoughts.

First is the crazy price they are charging for airfare nowadays. We haven't been able to find anything much less than about $4000 for the four of us. Now I am sitting on some frequent flyer points which chopped that in just about in two when we booked the flights last night.

The boys are now ten. We always have had some form of the dining plan when we went before with the kids. Last December we went without. We don't mind dining in Disney with a DP, and after that trip we decided that when the boys turned ten we would only get the dining when it was free. The free dining which opens up on the 28th of August was the clincher in choosing to go.

After booking the plane tickets last night we starting talking dining. We each chose our favorite place. DW chose Le Cellier and we have an ADR for the 28th. I chose Yachtsman on the evening of the 3rd. That leaves us with three TS entitlements. I get to choose one DW gets two, (funny how that works) For these we are going with new experiences. I have made my choice 50's PTC is mine, we have an ADR on the 30th. DW has chosen Tutto Italia for the 31st. We like choosing a couple of signature dining places, and eating at the resort food court a couple of nights.

We haven't booked our resort yet, but we will this afternoon. We will have to make this a split stay. Fot the free dining period we are going to stay at POR in the AB section, hopefully near the front of the resort. We have stayed at POR, POFQ, WL and BC. We have had this discussion many times, and we like POR a lot. WL is nice and so is BC, but considering the price, choosing POR is a no brainer for us.

for the 25th - 27th we are gonna try to get Pop Century. We haven't tried a value before, and want to give them a chance. Now we wont be on a dining plan, and won't have park admission for those two full days. One of those days will be spent at the Orlando Premium Outlets. DW and I loved our morining there in December. The other day will probably be spent at the pool. One thing we have discussed is going over to Kona for breakfast probably on our shopping day, as the kids haven't had breakfast there.

More details to come soon.

Day 4 August 29

We have a Kona ADR for 7:45. I loved the breakfast we had here in December. I am sure the boys will love it too.

The crowd calendar gives us the following

MK 5.0
EP 1.4
HS 2.3
AK 3.7 (emh)

Normally I'd say AK for the emh so that we could start an hour earlier. With breakfast at Kona, we can't make that emh, so I'd say Epcot will be our choice.

Our dinner ADR is at Liberty Tree Tavern at 7:30. This is also a new one for us. We have decided to stick almost exclusively with new restauants. I am not so thrilled about this one. Our boys haven't seen an evening parade or Wishes before so it should be cool.

Lookin' good so far! Can't really comment on LTT... the last time we ate there it had the characters (so that was the big draw for us). But that being said, everyone in our party (7 of us) enjoyed our meal. I've heard mixed reviews for LTT but we thought the food was fine. Don't know if the food is the same or not!?!

I had Kona on our list for our next trip but I took it off and replaced it with Ohana breakfast. Now I'm second guessing myself!

Are you aching for the hot FL weather? I know we are... summer so far has been a bust out here!

Sort of, there is the old saying, be careful of what you wish for. Yeah, late Spring has been horrible, lots of fog.

Wow,

with Fantasmic returning to a nightly schedule, I am going to have to rethink our plans and dining. Touring plans will update their crowd calendar, then I'll continue this thread.

Love the Pre-TR! Sounds like you guys will be there during low crowds, which will be a plus with the heat! Honestly, I'd rather have the heat and low crowds than have it somewhat cooler and crowded (like when we went last November for Thanksgiving! YIKES!!!)

Just Printed the new crowd calendars. The plans for August 28th and 29th have not changed.

Day 5 August 30

MK 2.0
EP 2.0
HS 3.8
AK 3.4

This morning is wide open. There is an EMH at Epcot. I'd be surprised if the boys aren't agitating for AK by now.

We have a 7pm ADR for 50's PTC from when there was no Fantasmic. That ADR is too late to see Fantasmic. There isn't availability after 4 pm. We might hurry our dinner a little bit, and take the boat to EPCOT to catch Illuminations.

Day 6 Aug 31st

Mk 2.7
EP 4.3
HS 4.3
AK 3.9 emh

I think that by this time where we have been will start to influence where we go. We'll probably have done MK, EP and AK so HS will probably be the choice. Or maybe AK. Essentially we want to hit each park once before repeating.

I am sure we will do 2 EP, 2 MK, 1 HS, and 1 AK (only because of the kids). Our last admission will be up in the air.

Our ADR is at Tutto Italia at 7:35pm. Too late to see Illuminations I think, but hopefully we will have seen it on the 30th.

Day 7 Sept 1

MK 4.0 emh
EP 2.3
HS 4.5
AK 3.0

Perhaps this will be our second EPCOT morning.

This was going to be our Fantasmic night. We have ADR's for 5:30 at Brown Derby. We thought about switching this around to see Fantasmic on one of the new nights, but we were not able to swtich ADR's in a manner to suit us so the plan stays the same.

Day 8 September 2nd

MK 3.2
EP 7.1 evening emh
HS 0.3
AK 3.2

If there isn't a park we have hit up to this point, we'll go there. This might be our second MK morning.

We have a Chef des France ADR for 7:30. Hopefully we will have seen Illuminations by now, as I don't think we can get through our meal in time to get out to lake side on this night.

We might stick around for awhile when emh kicks in.

Day 9 Sept 3

MK 4.2
EP 4.4
HS 4.8 morning emh
AK 3.4

Who knows where we will go this morning.

We do have 2:45 pm lunch ADR's for Le Cellier, and no evening ADR's.

I have a sneaky suspicion that we will not have seen Illuminations from outside by this time. If that happens we'll grab some counter service in World Showcase and see Illuminations on our last night.

Day 10 Sept 3 sunday.

We have a 1:30 pm flight home via Montreal. Since the ME bus will be picking us up at about 10:30 am, I don't see us doing anything this morning.

We'll get home about 10pm local time, have Monday to settle back before school reopens for teachers on Tuesday, Sept 5th. yuck!!!

Hi,

I haven't updated this thread since the middle of June. DW and I have been enjoying our summer holidays in spite of the lousy weather.

For the first time we have not been counting down the days until our Disney trip, as the trip pretty much brings our holidays to a close. I can't seem to count down until school opens.

A milestone did happen recently as our Magical Express material arrived yesterday.

From past experience, the last couple of weeks of August is always kinda weird. We end up doing a lot more stuff, trying to cram as much as we can into our time. In recent years we have taked spur of the moment road trips, golfed like crazy, Wacthed a season or three of a show like 24.

This year when August 20th hits we can look forward to a Disney trip.

More to come

The kids are getting excited now.

We are all looking forward to the trip as we have had the worst summer I can remember. A few days ago the weatherman said that 60 of the last 70 days had rain. Last saturday was the first day in two weeks to break 20 C.

Getting VERY Close now!!! :sohappy: Less then a week to go!!! Lucky you! We check into POP on 8/31-9/6!!! Can't wait. I'm sure it will be HOT and we will melt, but I was in Disney in December when they had their cold front (talking 30 degree for a high) so I welcome the warmth!!! Here's hoping for NO rain!

Ugh, Irene looks like she might be close enough to the World to mess us up at our scheduled arrival time of 7 pm on Thursday

Hope all goes well with that. My parents are in South FL and I think everyone down there is praying she stays out at sea. A side note on the weather, of course Houston has had 34 triple digit heat days this summer, we felt the temps last week at WDW were pretty comfortable for summer...a bit humid at times...but not like the blazing inferno we've got going on here.
