Where do you mail a postcard from WDW?
EpcotGrl said:There are mailboxes ALL OVER the parks. I know of several in the World Showcase (one in Mexico is all I can recall off hand), and there's lots at MK--I know one just inside the turnstiles, on either end. And MGM actually uses "regular" mailboxes a la 1940's
And as I recall, if you mail your stuff from inside the parks, they get a special postmark...?![]()
Unfortunately, they do not get a special postmark. :wave:EpcotGrl said:And as I recall, if you mail your stuff from inside the parks, they get a special postmark...?![]()

Yeah, for many years I mailed postcards from the mailboxes in the MK (and the other parks) in the hope that they would have a special postmark. I found out later that a CM just bags up all the mail from MK (and the other parks and resorts) and it is sent via the Lake Buena Vista Post Office branch to the central post office in Orlando where it gets postmarked. Bummer.EpcotGrl said:Oh well, guess you can't have everything :animwink:
Since Lake Buena Vista IS a real town, you would think that they would do their own postmark? :veryconfuWoody13 said:Yeah, for many years I mailed postcards from the mailboxes in the MK (and the other parks) in the hope that they would have a special postmark. The best I recall is that if you mail an item at WDW within Orange County, it goes to Orlando Post Office. If you mail an item at WDW within Osceola County it goes to Kissimmee Post Office.
I haven't checked lately, so perhaps they do the postmarks now. However, with such a large volume of mail as is produced at WDW, they most likely still do the postmarks at the central post office in Orlando. :wave:unkadug said:Since Lake Buena Vista IS a real town, you would think that they would do their own postmark? :veryconfu
This thread made me think about the dearth of postcards at WDW. I guess people just don't send them anymore, and for people like me who collected them they have been replaced with the (far more profitable) pins. Why bother writing a postcard when you can just call or text anyone who cares on your cell from in front of Cinderella Castle or anywhere else in the World. (Come on, who hasn't called someone and said, "Guess where I am?", LOL)page 34 said:MAIL: Postcards are for sale at many spots in the resorts and around the Magic Kingdom, among them Main Street Stationers on the west side of Main Street. Postage stamps can be purchased at the front desk at any of the WDW hotels, at the trading posts at Fort Wilderness, at City Hall on Main Street, at Earth Station at Epcot Center, and Guest Services at the Disney-MGM Studios. The old-fashioned olive-drab mailboxes that punctuate Main Street are no longer offical U.S. post boxes, but letters can be mailed there for pickup by Disney employees and subsequent transportation to the Lake Buena Vista post office. Postmarks read "Lake Buena Vista", not "Walt Disney World". All window services are available at the Lake Buena Vist post office, including postal money order and stamp sale, registry, and certification. The post office is located at the Crossroads of Lake Buena Vista shopping center.
Me. Even if I had a cell phone - which I don't and don't want - I'd never take it to WDW. I have however, taken addresses with me and sent out postcards while at the park to friends all around the world.AEfx said:(Come on, who hasn't called someone and said, "Guess where I am?", LOL)
