Are park reservations going away?

No need to smack people down for not knowing the minutia on DVC rentals.

I don’t even Believe they should allow rentals…but don’t expect people to know it.

Seems unnecessarily confrontation…and it’s ME here 😳

I rented points through donated points for a donation for a charity. There was no contract...but, please, do go on.
I'm curious how that worked. Last I was told, you cannot just donate points. You have to donate booked stays. I also would let them know they need to look into wording so people know what they are getting. Also a suggestion I'd give them, get a contract. Without one as a renter you can get screwed. The one renting out if paid in full at the start has zero to lose.

No need to smack someone down, but no need to smack me down either for attempting to help. I do think those renting points need to research everything, but I also think that those renting out need the right verbiage.

….PSSST…I wasn’t referring to you, Helen-A

Did you smack someone down?

I just don’t think the average renter is going to really spend time looking at terms and conditions or reading too much material online about it.

We spend our time (to kill it…nothing more) talking about parks and details. Some people just pay and go there.

I will always laugh when you call me that ;)

I think it is wise if the average renter does research though. If they aren't then they could be making a big mistake. Especially now with the reports of people being totally hosed by scammers. Those renting out points need not worry as much as those renting the reservations.

I agree…but if they don’t I don’t know if it warrants a lecture?

I would like it to be more fun/less confrontational round here

No it doesn't need to be a lecture. More of wise FYI for future.

Fun? This isn't fun for you?

It does say “If you’re a DVC member staying on your Membership you’ll receive service on the 4th and 8th days”.

Now I realise you’re not a DVC member but as a renter you are counted as such, because you are staying on the owner’s membership.

I’m sorry you were not aware of this.

That is incredibly rude IMO.

@helenabear was simply explaining the DVC housekeeping service to you. Certainly no need to snap at her in that way.
Exactly, which according to Disney's own literature IN THE ROOM I posted above, we should have received service on day 4. Funny you called me rude. 😂

There’s really no need for all this upset. Those familiar with DVC know that the service you get on day 4 of a less than 8 day stay is very limited - just trash removed and towels replaced. Those not familiar with DVC can easily interpret “service” as meaning more than that.

DVC used to do a much better job of explaining. There was a card in each room differentiating between stays of less than/ more than 8 days and actually giving examples of exactly what service you receive using Sunday as the first day. Those cards were very helpful but are long gone.

Compounding the confusion is that housekeeping (in my experience) sometimes makes mistakes. On various stays we were entirely skipped on day 4 or received a full cleaning instead of just trash and towel service.

People make mistakes. Sometimes the best thing to do is to just move on.

I posted a picture of the booklet in our DVC room.

to be technical it isn't 8 days, but 8 nights. Just in case anyone is reading and gets confused for the future.

But yes, to the rest. However, I think the only really well-written way is in the terms but that's very long and drawn out. They were never quite that clear even in the past. Though to @Ayla if you got nothing at all, stop at the front desk.

Have been at Disney for nearly two weeks -- went into the park 10 days. Saw nary a single survey cast member in the parks. (Did see one at Disney Springs one afternoon.) I was desperately hoping to give them a piece of my mind about Genie+ and particularly the park reservation system. Just curious if anyone has seen them lately or if Disney is just avoiding hearing folks' opinions.

In general, bought Genie+ three days, ILL for Rise and Ratatouille since we hadn't experienced them before, bought SIGNIFICANTLY less souvenirs (like a minuscule amount), ate out at one Disney-owned sit-down and one counter-service restaurant (over 13 days!) cooking mostly in the room [although we did buy a fair share of popcorn and Mickey bars]. If I'm paying for Genie, Disney just isn't getting my money elsewhere. I'm not willing to bite the bullet and cut our visits completely, but I refuse to pay more for a Disney trip than I did before. And we spent considerably less than we ever did before on this our first trip since the start of COVID.

I'm willing to succumb to Genie+ (although it absolutely needs tweaking -- I should NOT have to wake up at 6:45 every day on vacation and I should NOT have to be looking at my phone all day), but the park reservation system is atrocious. Traveling with three young ones under 5, the lack of spontaneity the park reservation system elicits is horrible. Kid didn't wake up until 10? Sorry, still stuck going to Magic Kingdom before you can go into Epcot to eat at your dining reservation...which is why we didn't do a single dining reservation on this trip.

The only survey taker we saw was at DS- none at the parks.

Too much “matter of factism” and too much “easy offense”…

We all do it…most notably me.

It happens.

The literature left in the rooms now is nowhere near as complete and accurate as the cards DVC used to provide. I’m not surprised people are confused/ disappointed.
Not having housekeeping at a hotel is a foreign concept to 99.95% of people. So it’s anti-instinct.

The other 0.05% own DVC and are on a waitlist to pay $185 a point for 60% used beach club points 🙄

But to be fair…the eco initiatives of the last 10+ years and covid restrictions should make lack of housekeeping more common place.

Not a DVC member here and I guess really nothing to add, just chiming in. Towels, TP(running out is a crazy phobia of mine) and coffee are all I need refreshed. I always shower before bed so the linens don't get too stinky.

The first thing that is likely to change is park hopping rules. WDW is still at ~40% staffing levels, so they are going to continue to need that artificial cap to capacity until it returns to at least 60% maybe more.

I hadn’t read all your posts before I replied, so missed the fact you were expecting a full cleaning on day 4. My bad.

However, this was rude:
Let it go. Pretty sure they put me on ignore now anyway so not worth it.

It's not. I am surprised really they even have the daily housekeeping portion at the top anyway since most rooms are jot renting via Disney. I do put blame on whomever they rented through though.
