Are Body Wars and Cranium actually gone?

When someone sponsors something at WDW, what do they get? Their name on a plaque? Maybe mentioned once or twice (a la Siemens). Who gets to see it? Only people who paid to get into WDW.

A Kodak exec famously said before EPCOT opened... that the impressions they got at EPCOT, were still cheaper than actually getting getting a brochere in a person's hand otherwise.

But that was also 30+ years ago :)

It's pretty hard to justify to stock holders how spending thousands of dollars for a sponsorship in a theme park is spending the money responsibly. The economy has the bulk of the influence in these matters. If the return on investment is measurable then it is worth the risk...if not, it's so long. That type of promotion is almost impossible to measure, therefore, the first thing cut

Pretty much all brand advertising is hard to quantify. They can more accurately count the # of impressions they get at Disney then they can off TV. But these are about brand building and brand association. And not all companies treat those priorities the same.

I think it also has to do with brand association. Kodak was pictures, picture are a vacation staple. Consumers in WDW will be buying Kodak products directly. A brand like MetLife does not seem to have the same strong ties. And as you said, it was 30 years ago. Who knows what WDW is looking for in terms of sponsor dollars now, compared to other advertising venues.
