Are AP Holders getting Shafted?

So the new specials have come out and people are going to eat up the rooms.

But what about the AP rates for January? They have yet to be released and my fear is that all the rooms will be gone.

Nah. I don't think so. In some room categories there aren't that many being offered with the stay4/get3. My in-laws weren't going to get their AKL Club Level room for the length of their stay because it was sold out the 1st 3 days. I find it hard to believe that there were a lot of these particular rooms discounted then sold out by the time I called at 12:30 in the afternoon on Monday. Don't get concerned 'til ya have to.

It is certainly possible but AP and Florida resident rates always seem to be the last to come out as Disney makes less money from them. With the current 4/3 deal guests are getting a pretty steep discount on the room and dining but the price of the ticket is only $9 less

Yes I see what you mean. What I always do is book the room for the time I want to go even before the rates come out. Then when they finally do come out, I call Disney and say that I want to change my room to the AP discount. That way your room is already booked, and if it doesnt work out to your favor you can still cancel the room.

Yea that is what I have done. I booked a room at POP and awaiting the AP discounts for January. When they come out, I will call and see if I can get the discount applied.

We were going to just use FL resident or AP discount for room only over the stay4/get3 for January because we only had 1 of our family's 4 passes to repurchase. Buuut, as of yesterday we had to change our dates to March so now all 4 passes have to be repurchased (3 of ours were good thru like 1/21). I went ahead and booked us the stay4/get3 and will apply the MYW tix to the passes when I get there. Plus the hubby and I each have unused 1 day tix we can throw in. We shouldn't be out of pocket much of anything upgrading the passes once we get there. Buuuut, I'm watching for those room-only discounts, too. If it comes out cheaper to go that route and the room is available I'll switch.

You know you can only upgrade one ticket to one AP, right? If you all have MYW tickets with your package, the one-day tickets you have can't be "thrown into the mix. You can't put two tickets toward the same AP.

Wouldn't want you to be disappointed when you get to the booth.

^^ REally? Okay. I don't think we'd want to waste 'em anyway. I think the 9-day MYW tix are so close we won't be out of pocket much at all. I'd rather pull out a few bucks and hang onto the two 1-days for future use. :animwink:

You couldn't "waste" them, they will be good until you get around to a situation where you can use them. :D

LOL! I meant use them to cover less than the maximum we can get for them in an upgrade.

I wonder how many severely old tickets/passes the Guest Relations folks get to see during an average day. Every time my Gramma tells the story of how they collected the individual leftover ride tickets from various relatives to "trade for admission" for my family after Disney made the switch from the ticket books to just a gate admission I cringe. I'd loooove to have some of the old ticket booklets complete or not. And ooooooh...to have my old 3-Season-Salute Pass with my picture on it from when I was 12! That would be so awesome!

Disney only reserves a certain number of rooms for each promotion. So there will be rooms available for an AP discount.

Hi all, Just a note on all of those people who have booked a room at full rack rate. This does NOT guarantee you a room at your reseort for your time frame. If anything, I would think it would lessen your chances, as Disney thinks it has sold that room ( and anyone else who has booked in hopes of a discount) and so wont put as many rooms, if any into the discount. The only time I advise my clients to book a room at rack rate is if they are planning to go at that time of year for that resort, regardless of any discount offers. Belle

This is true. I am not banking on the AP discount for my January travel dates. Plus, I really want to stay at Pop Century - I do not want to be at Sports again which seems where I end up with the discount.
