Anything ever going to happen with the Odyssey?

I'm always disappointed when I walk through WS to FW via the walkways outside the old Odyssey restaurant. It is such a prominent spot in EPCOT, I think it could be used better. Have there ever been any rumors on future/nicer for this spot?

That building is still very much used, but not to the average guest. It's opened here and there as a small convention type center i believe, like during the food and wine festival.

Around one side of the building it the first aid spot (which I think should be a more central location)

Part of the building not open to guest is a fairly large cast cafeteria. Also connected are the Custodial Offices for the park.

There is a thread lost somewhere in this forum from about q month ago which rumored that Microsoft will be sponsoring a restaraunt using their Microsoft surface table tops. Not sure what became of that rumor, but it's a nice concept.

There have also been rumblings about a new sitdown restaraunt that would have interactive touch screen microsoft menus and tables.

We can only hope.

I can't imagine that Steve Jobs would be excited about Microsoft getting advertising in a park and company he owns quite a bit of.

Apple is supposedly developing tablet technology, and it would certainly make more sense for the man on the Board of Directors to leverage his own company rather than the competitor.

I might be wrong but isnt that illegal?

It would be neat to see something, almost anything done with Odyssey.
I'm really surprised that Epcot doesn't have a Deluxe restaurant with that overlooks the lagoon. I know there are several restaurants in Epcot that have limited views of the lagoon, but what they really need is a premium dining spot, with an elevated view of the lagoon. Odyssey seems like it would be the perfect spot for something like this.

It is not illegal for Disney to choose to do business with Apple.

I believe it would be illegal for Apple to refuse to do business with other parks simply because Jobs is on the board, but I am not sure.

If someone is more familiar with business ethics and anti-trust laws, please chime in!

I believe his point was that it would be illegal to refuse to do business with Microsoft.

They would not be 'refusing', simply showing preference to another technology.

You could accuse, but trying to prove that Disney was purposely sacrificing profit or product by choosing Apple would be difficult based on their technology track record.

And Apple has a relationship with Microsoft through their Office suite and other programs. A lawsuit would likely hold no weight.

It`s a travesty that yet another onstage area sits unused by paying masses when with very little expendature it would help aliviate the pressure on - and the hell that is - Electric Umbrella at feeding times.

I always avoid the Umbrella for that reason. There are plenty of great CS options in the Showcase that are much less freqented.
