It's good for talking to children and when you want to look cute and innocent - works better coming from a woman ;)

the hat

When i went to MGM last week, i bought a pin of the water tower and the CM working there said it was a good choice as they would be doing away with that as an icon of the park. Looks like the hat is there to stay

I doubt if they get rid of the hat...reasons..
1)if looks like its there to stay just but the cunstruction they are putting into it!!
2)if the great movie ride is "over for" they need somethign as a main icon type thing.
3)it looks cool!
Somethign like that isn't just built to take down again in a year,....think about it...

you mean like when I say to the kids, "[sniff sniff] Do you smell something [sniff]... Do you smell something burning? Oh, wait...it's your pants!"

I'm sure all of you that don't like the hat will grow to love it! :D I sure hope so because it's going to be there for a loooooong time.

Sorcerer Hat

The Sorcerer Hat is permanently the new icon of the Disney/MGM Studios. It will forever represent the Magic and Entertainment Wizardry of Disney!

I was at the Studios and I don't find the hat as repulsive as the rest of you do. And I think I am going to wait until it is completed to make a final judgement of it. I do see Mr. Promey's point - it does not add to the "Old Hollywood - Backlot" theme of the park. But I think it is kind of neat looking.

I agree about how it looks. I think it's much better looking up close than the hand and wand. I just don't think it fits in well where they put it… but you are right. I should wait till it's done and see what it's like before I throw my hissy-fit :)

You throw your hissy-fits anytime you like, Mr. Promey. They're ok by me.:)

Yeah but neither does the Rock and Roller Coaster. It may be insider entertainment industry but not movie backlot. I think that in some instances Disney is losing its overall theming. They are still the masters don't get me wrong but some of the attractions while being incredible don't seem to fit like they used too

I don't think the RnR is a detraction because it's set way down Sunset and it's sectioned off. The hat is at the end of Hollywood -- ruining (to me, at least) the 30s and 40s cinema glamour vibe.
