I found this quoted on another site in reference to your room. Hope it helps. "We had suite 8102 on Magic last year, and it was tremendous! Our verandah measured approximately 45 feet long by 10 feet wide - - that's not a misprint. We had magnificent views, and had no problems with any unusual movement of the ship. Yes, we did hear the thrusters, but it was very minor - just a little vibration that lasted just a minute or two."

Either that is a misprint or that person is woefully poor at estimating measurments.

45 feet long is wider than the width of many single family houses.

10' wide means just about any adult could lay down with their feet at the cabin wall and their arms outstretched over their head, and still not touch the railing.

In Nassau you will be looking towards the island, as opposed to the canal/channel. You will not have the view of Atlantis. You will be looking across two(?) other docks, so the possibility of looking at another ship is very real. I think all three times I have been there there has been another ship on that side. If there somehow is no other ship you will see the straw market and the small harbor.

I found this picture while browsing around the interwebs (On the Wikipedia entry for Nassau)

You can see that because the DCL ships "back in" if you are on the Starboard you will have a view of the channel and Atlantis (That brown building on the very left edge of the picture).

The small harbor and Straw Market is just off of the right edge of the picture. I could have sworn that once we were backed in all the way on the left where that Carnival ship is - right on the channel. I sat on the verandah and watched party boats go by.

looks like we will be facing the other cruiseships :/ I wish I looked into this stuff before we picked our rooms.

@tink66, we find an entertainment value in facing the other ships. You'll have many chuckles watching the other ships' passengers posing to take pics with the Disney ship in the background. Then, hubby and I like to people-watch the folks coming off or returning to the neighboring ships. We do silly voices and create imagined comments or conversations. It's fun. Don't be too put off thinking you'll face another ship. You'll definitely get the feeling you're on the RIGHT ship!

Agreed - there is nothing wrong with facing another ship. In fact, depending on when you are in port, there may not be a ship there.

It is not as if the other ship is blocking your view of an island paradise. It's blocking the view of a working harbor in downtown Nassau.

And given that two of those are Carnival ships, there is a good chance they will be on fire, overflowing with sewage, or having some other incident that keeps them out of port (sorry, I just had to go there)

Exactly my thought, too, Dave. It was worse in Civitevecchia. Ugly port. One of the Mexican ports was ugly, too. . .

The same thing with Grand Cayman - sort of, because they tender in. I have been there twice, for a week each time. It is a wonderful island. Even the "poor" secrions are nice. Just smaller houses - not squalor. However the island has a busy shipping port because everything on that island arrives by ship. Where do they tender the cruises in? That's correct, right next to the dirty, industrial, shipping port.
