Anyone seen room discounts for after Nov 5th? :)

That would be crazy. I booked in March, only because I booked the WDW portion right after the cruise. Within a week my room category showed sold out, and has remained that way. I can't switch dates and I won't switch resorts or even rooms.. I actually had to extend my trip by 1 night to get the room type I wanted, some kind of length of stay requirement.

Of course I'm going to hope for a discount, but waiting to reserve the room would have meant that I wouldn't get that resort at all.

I am not saying to wait for offers, my main advice is to book what you can afford, and hope an offer is released later, and then be flexible. If you book something too expensive and then hope for an offer, and don't have much flexibility, you may be disappointed.

I agree with that. I still wanted and was extremely hoping for the discount though!!!!!! This stinks. Even 25% off of my Contemporary stay would have covered at least Thanksgiving night at AKL club level. That would have been extremely nice.
I agree on the self-defeating mindset. I'm not one to threaten to cancel if I don't get my ideal outcome. After a short phone call to the Reservations hotline, I'm staying put at AoA. No availability at any other value (besides AoA family suites) for my dates, 12/1-12/5. Bummed? Sure. Was hoping to save a few bucks but it's better than the alternative. I know a lot of people who wait for those special offers before they book. I'd be pretty disappointed if I hadn't pre-booked and to find that the only available results are $400 a night, thus disqualifying me from a trip entirely. After this trip, I'll be sticking with my usual Fall Vacations :)
Don't worry, I don't think $400 per night rooms exist right now.. Looks like most of the Deluxe were excluded. :(

.... is 15% off supposed to impress me?

I've already got a call out to my travel agent. I'm dumping my dining plan, and may possibly switch hotels- to Universal- for my entire trip.

I'm pretty peeved about this.

Disney gotta make up for a bad summer, right? They can do it on someone else's dime. :( :( :(

I guess wait and see if people start to cancel with the discount offerings that's not to their liking.

I had tried to split my trip with Universal 2 nights Royal Pacific/2 nights Contemporary theme park view (apparently the only room category with restrictions that week), I would like to do Grinchmas at Universal and see the parade...plus, son is just now getting in to Harry Potter.

I checked last week and plenty availability at Royal Pacific, now checked today and all regular rooms are sold out. I don't know if that has anything to do with Disney or not. We were looking at club level anyway, but Disney still won't let me modify the reservation... my TA actually, it's driving me crazy that I can't talk to them

I'll take the 15%! I don't think they're making up for it, I just think that since most of the resorts are sold out there isn't any motivation for them to discount.

Apparently Universal isn't having a sold-out resort issue- their hotels are much more affordable... with good 'value' add ons as well.

I dunno. I still may stay at Disney, but only a few days, and not the six I had planned. I'll stay at Universal longer, instead.

They got smart this year and waited for the resorts to fill up and then release discounts on what was left (not sold out). it would have been nice to get a discount but that's the breaks.

That could back fire on them if more folks start booking at non-Disney resorts and realize what a huge price difference it is.

Currently, without discounts, the Disney leg of my trip is a hair over $3,000. My travel agent is calling me back this afternoon with what Disney "discounts" and offers and see what that brings my total to... I'm not expecting much. Also, dumping the dining plan, so that'll bring it down as well.

I've been texting with my traveling party and we've decided to dump almost all of our dining reservations and therefore, the dining plan.

It doesn't look we'll get a discount either. We're staying at POFQ, which is excluded, and my travel agent says that WDW tells her that there is no availability at Riverside right now. The eligible room portion of our trip is about $1,600 so 15% of that is $240. If I've already accepted that I'm going to pay $2,500 for room and tickets I'm not going to get too upset if I don't save $240. It would be nice to have, but I'm not going to cancel my plans or decide to stay off property for that amount of money I'm not saving. That's just me though.

Do you think a large amount of people would actually cancel though?
A discount would be great, I'm more upset about the length of stay requirements for certain room types..and the new crowd calenders... But I can't imagine people booking week stays and then canceling an entire vacation.

I can't do the combo because I would loose the room altogether... Grinchmas looks really neat though!

I don't think they will cancel out. It would be nice but its no sweat to us. people might scale back MVMCP, character dining and dining plan. You can cut corners and be alright. I thought the crowd calendar would make it more expensive in December.

I would be surprised if people decided to skip MVMCP... it does have me rethinking doing 2 nights at AKL pre cruise though...I don't know if I can justify over $700 per night when I won't check in until 1-2am...I thought a room discount at the contemporary would ease my mind on that night. I may just cut it back to 1. If we arrive early...9:30am-ish, we can still go to the lounge, correct?

I think the parties will be packed. people will think they can walk on the rides. Word has it Disney sells about 20,000 or more tickets per night to those events.
