Anyone seen room discounts for after Nov 5th? :)

I hadn't received a unique pin code but maybe that's because I had booked The Little Mermaid rooms at AoA which is excluded from that RO discount that some of you had received last month. I see on the Back-To-School Savings offer that the discount only applies to the family suites. Are the Little Mermaid Rooms often excluded from the RO discounts?

It's hard to believe they are holding out this long.
If there's no offer, I hate to say it, but I'll be cancelling the WDW leg of my vacation. I refuse to pay full price.

:( if they want my money they better pony up soon.
I'm still hoping!!! I won't cancel.. But I am afraid there won't be discounts because there is almost no availability at the resorts for my week. I'd love to be wrong!!!

I know. It's been a hot topic of discussion amongst my traveling party. We have agreed that we are not paying full price and will stay at our Universal resort longer (already have an incredible package there, it's less than half of our Disney trip) and will simply use Uber and spend a day at MK since I already bought the mickeys Xmas party tickets.

I don't want to cancel my Disney part of the trip but cmon. My vacation needs to be paid in full by mid September...how long are they going to hold out on releasing packages?!

For a company that wants you to plan and micromanage every pee break of your vacation, they sure are waiting till the absolute last minute...

What resort are you staying at? We are at AKL Thanksgiving and the day after, I wasn't expecting discounts for those nights.. We will be back at WDW the week of 12/3 staying at the Contemporary.. Was hoping for discounts then, but last time I checked there is 0 availability there...which really concerns me about the chances of a discount.

I am just hoping they are making sure every room is filled in each wing of the resort before opening up another wing ???? It seems odd that in the past they offered the discount at the end of July and nothing this year. Unless they are trying to make some serious cash. I'm curious to see if a lot of people who pre booked their trip will back out if there isn't a discount. Very interesting??

I booked February 13th. No discount offered, yes I'm backing out. Period. :(

I'm booked at CBR...my first time there. Was thinking of upgrading to Polynesian, but no. That's not gonna happen.

Universal, I'm staying at Cabana Bay. However, I received an excellent offer for Sapphire Falls, I may move to that hotel, especially if Disney isn't going to offer discounts.

I'm honestly pretty ticked that nothing has been released by now.

We will be at the Poly December 3 - 9. First time there. We always stay at AKL but wanted to try something new, looking forward to the Seven lagoon electric parade on Saturday on the beach.

The new discounts are out. I had no luck getting a discount for Poly in early December. Which didn't surprise me. I'm not sure, but I think the discounts are a lot lower than previous years.

Of course - no discounts for the Little Mermaid Room. I may end up just changing my reservation to an available All Star

No discounts for the Contemporary or Poly at all. Contemporary also is still showing completely sold out.
No discounts for AKL Thanksgiving, but I figured that.

I feel sick.

Deep breaths.

Holy heck this is an expensive 2 weeks!!!! Cut me a little slack Disney!!!

Do you realize by booking a room and then hoping for a discount that you are possibly defeating yourself? Discounts are offered when the "magic formula" shows that resort occupancy/bookings are below a certain percentage; if you have already booked the room, you are keeping that percentage up, so they have no incentive to offer the lower rates.

We always tell our travel agency clients to book what they can afford, that discounts are considered a "clearance sale" and that in many cases they may need to change resorts or dates to save a few dollars (be flexible), and that discounts are not guaranteed.

Not sure if you've ever used this strategy before when booking rooms at WDW, but I've been pretty successful about 4-5 other times in the past. I usually go during September-November when there's more availability though. I book room only and then apply a discount when they're made available by calling the Reservations line. My amount due at check-in is always much lower after applying the discount. I've never had an issue doing this in the past although this is the first time I'm going during a busier season and I also booked a room that did not qualify for the discount.

Of course, I've been going to Disney for many years, and have been a travel agency owner, specializing in Disney, for 12+ years. Many of us use this same strategy personally and for our clients, but you need to have the proper mindset going in, I consider the "I am cancelling my trip if I don't get a discount" to be a self-defeating one.

The fact that you may switch to the All-Star is the right mindset.

That would be crazy. I booked in March, only because I booked the WDW portion right after the cruise. Within a week my room category showed sold out, and has remained that way. I can't switch dates and I won't switch resorts or even rooms.. I actually had to extend my trip by 1 night to get the room type I wanted, some kind of length of stay requirement.

Of course I'm going to hope for a discount, but waiting to reserve the room would have meant that I wouldn't get that resort at all.

I agree on the self-defeating mindset. I'm not one to threaten to cancel if I don't get my ideal outcome. After a short phone call to the Reservations hotline, I'm staying put at AoA. No availability at any other value (besides AoA family suites) for my dates, 12/1-12/5. Bummed? Sure. Was hoping to save a few bucks but it's better than the alternative. I know a lot of people who wait for those special offers before they book. I'd be pretty disappointed if I hadn't pre-booked and to find that the only available results are $400 a night, thus disqualifying me from a trip entirely. After this trip, I'll be sticking with my usual Fall Vacations :)
