Anyone that is over 35 with a good memory can contribute. I am trying to figure out an event that happened in 1976 near the Liberty Bell. If you went to Disney in those days and may have a recollection of events in those days please post them here. This was the Bicentennial Celebration year so everything was very patriotic.

Sounds like the Spirit of `76 Fife and Drum Corps - The Ancients - there were a lot of ceremonies with them in Liberty Square in the 70`s, even more so in 1976.

The only memory I can contribute is a fuzzy one from my visit in 1977. My best friend's family took me with them on their WDW vacation and I have a vague memory of being in Liberty Square and being approached by a cast member to participate in some sort of flag ceremony.

My friend and I were taken into a building and given Betsy Ross type outfits to wear. Little white bonnets and red, white and blue dresses that just slipped over what we were wearing.

Then we joined a flag corp and the three guys who dressed up as the fife, drummer and some other instrument. You know the one where his head is bandaged?

It's really fuzzy from there. Something happened like a small parade to the Liberty Tree and something with the flag.

Sorry it's so vague but I was seven!!

If you click on my album below you will find several pics from the bicentennial events from 1976. You are correct. Everything was patriotic that year. I still have a set of bedsheets that have mickey, goofy, etc. They are all dressed up as revolutionaries. I also have a couple of souvenir books from that year as well as the soundtrack album from the parade.

The reason why

I received a medal and am trying to put the pieces together

I think that there are only 300 to 700 of these ever given out and no one seems to remember the event at which I got this. It was a fife and drum event and I don't know if it happened once or twice a day. But if I am the only one with one of these...! And you are right all over 35 have good memories, we even remember things that did not happen.

That is a picture of my sister becoming an honorary daughter of the revolution. This was a ceremony that was held daily.(I am not sure how many times a day). If you look closely, she is holding a parchment in one hand and a small box in the other. It looks like that box could be that medal.

That is exactly what it is

That is awesome. That is exactly what that box is. Does she still have the medal? Thanks for the pic.
