Anyone ever meet anyone at WDW from your area?

Oh! You mean the way DJ invisions her boyfriend Steve when the Tanner family visits WDW on the show Full House? Steve didn't go, so DJ saw his face everywhere...as Indiana Jones...Aladdin, etc. LOL Funny thing is, the actor was Aladdin's voice. So, that was cool. :) OK. Your post just made me remember that. LOL
Yeah, pretty much... that's right!!! I remember that epi! I don't see him in actuality, I just wish I saw him. It's all daydream like!

We were in the gift shop at the WL last October and met a cast member named Carl from our hometown. After he and my husband started talking about how Carl got to WDW, my husband realized this was the man who owned a local music store and had actually sold him his first bass guitar in high school. They talked for a while about Carl selling his business and moving his wife with him to his dream job, working at WDW. This was not unusual for my husband to see a familiar face because has seen more people he knows in the past at WDW.

The closest I have been to stumbling upon someone from my hometown was the cast member who checked us in one year at Riverside. He had moved there to get away from the casinos which is where I work so we talked a bit.

Our bus driver last October was saying it was her last bus trip for a week because she was heading, by fluke, to where I live to go to the casinos and happened to be going to the very casino I work for. I thought that was odd that she goes on vacation to where I work and I go on vacation to where she works. Different perspectives, I guess.

My parents and my brother were down in Orlando, but not WDW over Spring Break this year. When they were at Downtown Disney they ran into one of the teachers from my mom's school. And then when they were playing putt-putt the people in front of them commented on my dad's jacket (he was wearing a Michigan State jacket) and assumed they were from Michigan and then started talking to them about MSU and turns out they were all at State at generally the same time.

When I was in 6th grade we went out to California and went to Disneyland and my mom ran into one of her students. This is a common occurance with my mom. It seems like everywhere she goes she runs into one of her current or former students. She took me and my brother to lunch a few weeks ago and ran into one of her former students so my brother and I joke about how we can't take her anywhere cuz she always runs into someone from school.

Hey Eagles fans, how does it feel losing 3 championship games in a row. 2 at home and 1 to my panthers.

Too be honest I don't know how the world is still going on. We lost, we got over it and we look forward to winning it all this year. And HELLO, your team lost the Super Bowl, I dont exactly think you have any grounds for mocking anyone else's team.

Now do you actually have anything worth contributing to the topic at hand ? Anything else can be continued in chit chat.

Three times

Ten years ago we took our (then) two kids and my parents to Disney and ate at 50's Prime Time for dinner. My mother of course got the full attention of our CM the whole meal. The table of 8 next to us was having a great time as well and in conversation it came out that they are from a small (coal) town in NE PA near where my parents are from...so of course they went off comparing common ground.

Four years ago we were down with our three kids and I saw a friend from High School. Seems he was a chaperone with the HS band that was performing at Magical Music Days...needless to say our kids ran into friends the rest of the trip.

Last summer, not only did we get to ride MS during soft opening, but in the gift shop, CM "Buzz" had a nearby town on his nametag (love those nametags) and after talking a bit found that he actually grew up in our town.

Every single time we go we have met someone we know. Because of my parents job, they know EVERYBODY!
The coolest though, was last May. In Epcot, in certain countries, they leave a bucket of chalk out and let you basically draw on the ground. Everyone was writing their name and where they were came from. My friends and I did the same, and some guy next to us was from the same neighborhood as me. We went a few countries down, did the same thing, and found a family from the same town. (And I live in a small town in NJ) it was just plain weird.

I had this happen to me several times when I worked there as a cast member

Once my pastor from church and his family saw me working.

Once my moms best friend came and found me

Once my aunt's sister came and found me

Once I met some people from Louisville who worked with the media and knew some of the people I work with at Six Flags

Once I met a guest who literally lives like 2 miles from my house. She did a package pickup for her splash picture and when I saw what her address was I couldn't believe it. We talked for a while and I told her where my house is and she thought it was pretty cool too. Her street only has like 5 or 6 houses on it. It's one of those "what are the odds?" type deals.

One other time I talked for a long time with a guest from Kentucky (they had a small child and were waiting for the rest of their family to ride splash mountain). Another guest heard the conversation and joined in. When I got off work a half hour later they were sitting outside and waved. I waved back and they told the rest of their family "hey she's from ky too" It was so much fun.

Chance encounters like this used to really make my day. Now when I go, I look for people from Ky just because it's so much fun to see people from where you're from. (I've started conversations with other guests wearing a U of L shirt or something. They usually look at me like I'm nuts! )

You just reminded me of another weird encounter... not in WDW though, so, sorry... :D
Two friends and I were last year in Argentina, and we took a tour on the lakes in Patagonia that took us to the border with Chile. We disembarked for a few minutes while some people embarked our ferry to enter Argentina from there. Among those, was a couple from our city, the brother of a friend of mine with his wife! What are the odds of finding someone on a tour in the middle of lakes, in the border of two countries in the Patagonia??!! We were shocked...

On my band trip in 1989 I met a girl from my city (Houston). We started talking a little and found out that we went to the same High school but she was a year behind me. After this I decided to see if she want to hang out the rest of the day and maybe we could go out we we got home. Turns out she had a boy friend. The boy friend (not in band) was one of my best friends that I had known since the 3rd grade. I told him about it and we had a good laugh. Of course then he went out with his girl and I went home

Maria, that sounds like a similar thing that happened to me when I went to Paris, France a few years ago. When I was on the elevator on the Eiffel Tower, I met a family from Cincinnati Ohio and I'm like an hour and a half away in Ky. It was kinda weird.

Funniest meeting we had, was during a spring break trip, we met 3 families we knew very well there and had no clue they were even going to be there. One that we knew from a soccer team, was actually sitting at a table next to us at El Pirate, and the other two families we just saw walking around. It's weird that we didn't know any of them would be there and we saw all of them :)

Happens everywhere, huh? I was with my roommate from Orlando in Paris when we went together, and we were taking pics to a couple at the top of the tower too (can´t help but offer to do that after you were a CM - lol) and when I heard the accent, I asked where they were from and they were from Cancun, which is 4 hours away from my city!

I live only 1 1/2 hours away from Miami (by plane, of course) and Miami Beach and specifically one hotel, were known as 'the second home for yucatecans' (people from the Yucatan Peninsula), so we were always encountering neighbors and friends there! Only last year, I found two of my friends at Aventura Mall... if it happens in Miami, doesn´t really surprise me anymore! lol

Just a bit off topic....

But a couple of years ago...my wife and I were visiting California ( we lived in NC at the time) and we were walking down a wooded path in the Muir park, just north of SF, and I ran into a fellow District Manager for the company I work for.

It was soooo surreal. I was almost speechless. Over 3000 miles from where we lived... on a little wooded trail... at just the right time of day......

Spooky!

In 1993 my family and a co-workers family were going to WDW, not together, it had just come up in conversation that we would be there at the same time. Turns out we were both staying at the Poly and we ran into each other the very first day we checked in.

What amazes me is that every trip since August 2000, (6 trips) my niece meets somebody she knows. Once her softball coach at BB, English teacher at MGM, PE teacher at the MK, etc. No matter when we go, she finds somebody she knows wondering around the parks.

Okay, here is something creepy but not WDW related. Back in 1990, my wife (girlfriend at the time) accompanied my family on vacation to Myrtle Beach. Our first day out we run into our old Middle School Girls Gym teacher. We always questioned her gender preference (not that there is anything wrong with that) and thought it was funny to find her on "Our" beach. To creep things out, who do we see strolling towards her and stopping for a smooch, one of the 7th grade math teachers - a woman also. So not only were our guesses proved true, but we got to see more than we ever intended.

We always seem to see someone we know when we travel. Kinda weird.

Iggles you say, hhmmmm. You wouldn't be the fellow Eagles fan I ran into twice in 2 days at 2 different parks just after Thanksgiving last year would you ? 1st day was in World Showcase, 2nd day was in MGM. If that guy is reading this, i'll be down the same time this year. If we run into each other again, we have to buy lottery tickets !!!

Always running across people from the Philly area. Have come across a few CM's from Delaware County. Including 1 from my hometown of Lansdowne.

Nope, sorry! I was cruising about the Caribbean Thanksgiving week last year. The best was coming home, we had a connection in Raleigh the day the Eagles were playing the Panthers during the regular season. And me with my jersey and hat on was getting the most nasty looks. Especially when I sat in the bar in the American Airlines terminal cheering each time my Eagles did good. **typical obnoxious Philly fan**

It's always fun to wear sports teams jerseys and see who comments. Last trip down I wore my Yzerman jersey one day to the MK. The morning started out as we walked toward the boat dock in FW and the boat skipper started yelling "Hurry up Steve..." It was early so it took me a moment to (duh) catch on. He was from Garden City, MI like me, but a bit younger. It was fun though the little comments you get all day long when you wear something like that.

When we would go in the summer we would almost always run into someone we knew or lived near us...now that we go a lot in early December it rarely happens.
