Anyone ever meet anyone at WDW from your area?

Cast members will generally ask where you're visiting from but, have you ever met someone in the parks from your area? We are from the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania. This area covers Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Slatington, Lehighton and so on. Granted it's big, but well known? A few years ago my mother and I met a family from Allentown who was in Orlando visiting their son. This past January I met a CM from Danielsville, PA, which is only 10 minutes from me. Turns out her daughter operates our local Drive-In Theater. Our bellboy at the GF was from the Lehigh Valley and worked at the our local amusement park for years. I was shocked to learn he also kept up with the lastest news on the park. Many times when we tell ppl where we are from they relpy "Ok...I have family there, or I used to live there". It's just odd.I think I come from the middle of nowhere. LOL Has this ever happened to anyone else?

They say if you stand still long enough you will run into someone you know. 2 years ago we were having breakfast in the Kona Cafe when my husband saw a doctor he works with on a daily basis. He isn't very friendly at work, but just mention WDW to him & his whole demeanor changes.

Being from the Philadelphia area, we run into people all the time, usually die-hard Eagles fans commenting about my jersey or hat!

One time, we met Joel Katz who used to be a DJ on 97.5 WPST and there was another woman who kept on harassing him the whole trip. (she would keep on saying to her kids - "look it's Joel Katz, you know from the radio...") I finally said something to her about he and his family were on vacation and didn't need her bothering him everywhere he went.

He smiled and seemed grateful for me saying something (being a radio personality it would have been bad for him to alienate a listener) and the woman left him alone on the remainder of the trip.

You never know because it is a small world after all... - I couldn't resist!

We live 10 hours from Orlando, and when we were there last year, we ran into 2 people from my neighborhood (they were together) in Animal Kingdom! It's VERY weird when it happens.

While I was working at Epcot, a friend of mine got married back home and went on honeymoon to Orlando.
I was escorting the holiday characters when all of a sudden, I heard someone screamed my name and lastname! It was certainly very weird.

I have also ran into people from my city in Canada, at a bus stop in Toronto (a whole family, friends of us), and also with two friends who studied with me, at the Parliament in Ottawa when the three of us went for for a day there (I was in Toronto and they were in another city nearby). It´s amazing! :)

Nope. Never have and don't know what I would do if I did! I always go w/o my BF, so I have these fairy tale fantsies in my mind of seeing him walking towards me at MK or the AKL lobby or something like that.

This past October while on the monorail going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party by boyfriend and I were taking about how we wish halloween was this warm back home. A couple heard us and commented where they lived it was the same. We must have talked for 10 minutes and noticed a lot of similarities until one of us asked where the other was from. We were not only from the same town, but literally an apartment community 2 streets from ours. With all the times one can go to Disney, and all the people on the monorail and all the people you actually start a conversation with, what are the chances.

we met a family in front of star tours from Chicago IL.... they saw my sisters shirt which said Illinois basketball on it and they were pretty freaked since the lived near lincolnwood (about 15 minutes from chicago....pretty weird

When I visited Orlando in about 1998, I met friends from school in what was then the Disney Village. We knew we were going around the same time and had joked that it would be really funny if we bumped into each other! I think we got a shock when it actually happened because coming all the way from Scotland and being in the same place at the same time was such a massive coincidence! Then we bumped into one another again at the Magic Kingdom and were just plain scared!

In 1995, I was in Elementary School, and I saw my gym teacher in line for Splash Mtn. It is kind of funny, because I was in that school a lot this year because I am going to be a teacher, so when I saw I asked if we would see each other because I am going in a few weeks. She is not sure what her summer plans were at the time, but that was possible. That would be funny.

Off topic, but I met a friend in Canada (the Country, not at EPCOT), twice a few years ago. That was fun.

We ran into a CM at MGM once who was from our hometown...

I'm not sure if they still do, but they used to put the CM's hometown on their name tags. Well, he was answering a question for us and I happened to look at his name tag!

It was so weird, since we live in a pretty small town in pennsylvania.

A few years ago, we ran into a family from our hometown who we know fairly well, but don't keep in great touch with. None of us realized that both of our families would be there at the same time! We were walking around Animal Kingdom and my dad goes "hey...that guy looks like Roger! oh wait...it IS Roger!" hahaha

It's a small world after all, eh?

Funny you should mention that, because the same thing happened to me. I told my friend and her mom when we were going (this was about 5 years ago) and they mentioned they would get there a couple of days after us. I also thought it would be funny if we ran into each other, and it turns out we did. I spotted them right outside the World of Disney store and we had a good laugh.

But I think a lot of you guys have had better luck than I have in that respect. Weird though, I'm from Miami, you would think you'd run into Miami natives all the time, and it's only happened every once in a while to us.

My daughter has a friend that moved to St. Petersburg. We met her and her family a year ago March and spent the day with them at MK. While we were coming out of PoC, my daughter's friend saw a girl that she went to grade shool with that was in the MK on a school band trip.

We have run into acquaintances a number of times over the years from Orland... The best though was the time we got back, developed our pictures, and spotted someone we knew in the photo who had an "Orland Park" t-shirt on, but didn't run into on the trip...

It seems that whenever we're down in Disney we always run into family friends..... this past trip, my guide on the jungle cruise lived in the same area I go to school at.... no more than 5 minutes away.... and before that, my father has bumped into many of his old students, since he's a teacher, who were doing co-op down there

Oh! You mean the way DJ invisions her boyfriend Steve when the Tanner family visits WDW on the show Full House? Steve didn't go, so DJ saw his face everywhere...as Indiana Jones...Aladdin, etc. LOL Funny thing is, the actor was Aladdin's voice. So, that was cool. :) OK. Your post just made me remember that. LOL

Iggles you say, hhmmmm. You wouldn't be the fellow Eagles fan I ran into twice in 2 days at 2 different parks just after Thanksgiving last year would you ? 1st day was in World Showcase, 2nd day was in MGM. If that guy is reading this, i'll be down the same time this year. If we run into each other again, we have to buy lottery tickets !!!

Always running across people from the Philly area. Have come across a few CM's from Delaware County. Including 1 from my hometown of Lansdowne.
