Anyone Else Worried About Monsters University?

I know - I was being sarcastic because the OP said they were worried about the movie.
No, I said I was worried about it being a good quality film like we've come to expect from the Pixar name. The pre-Cars 2 era was superb...whereas the Cars 2 & Beyond era has been a bit of a letdown. I was hoping M:U would give us that "wow" factor that all the Pixar films prior to Cars 2 exhibited.

Saw it yesterday. Like many have said, it's good, not great - which isn't bad.

As far as shareholders are concerned - it's very good!

Finally saw M:U last night (7/01). I'm not gonna lie...I was pleasantly surprised with this film, and eat my words about any negative speculation. For the first time since Toy Story 3, I felt satisfied when watching a Pixar film. Was it Pixar's greatest? No. Did the movie have it's flaws? Of course. But for me, M:U brought back the charm & story I had missed dearly with the past two releases from the Pixar name. I don't have the time now to write a full-fledged review, but overall I'd have to give M:U a solid B+
Very glad I forgave the studio for Cars 2 & Brave...and took the time last night to see this film. Well worth it!

Welcome back Pixar, it's good to see you again!

Can't wait to see it sometime next week! I think I'll take my brother. It's got a lot to live up to; the other two movies I've seen this year were Les Miserables and Star Trek Into Darkness;). Still kinda cool though to see Mike and Sulley when they were about my age.

I agree. Monsters was actually pretty good and the showing I went to Monday was almost full. It was lacking that one character that charmed everyone like Boo but I was glad they worked in Abominable and even George. My favorite part of the movie was when Squishy's mom said "I'll just be sitting in the car listening to my tunes" and when she rolls up the window the heavy metal band Mastadon is playing. (My daughter cracked up and said that was me, lol.) But you may be saying (if you haven't seen the movie) that I'm wrong and it was Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart". Well, interesting fact. In the commercials/trailers they changed it to Motley Crue so it could be played on television. She really was listening to Mastadon's "Island" in the movie. \m/ > < \m/ Rock on Squishy's mom, rock on!

Finally saw it last night with the wifey since we try to avoid premiers/packed theatres the first couple of weeks. We thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked it much more than the original to be honest. The animation looked great and the story pleasantly surprised me with plenty of creativity and heart despite what some may say. I also LOL'd a bunch of times. Pixar, IMO, took 2 or 3 steps back with the "direct to video-esque" Cars 2 and maybe half a step forward with Brave. Brave was just okay IMO. MU just might show that Pixar is back on track though Finding Dory sounds horrid. Not an Ellen fan. Hopefully Dory (even though the movie is names after her) isn't on screen anymore than she was in the original. Anywho, MU was really, really good and hopefully next years' The Good Dinosaur will confirm Pixar's still got it.

Oh, and The Blue umbrella short...did it remind anyone else of Paperman? Only it wasn't as good.

We saw it last week and really liked it! Not as original as MI (How could it be?) but very enjoyable in its own way. We also saw DM2 last week and THAT was a huge step down from the charming original IMHO. Very average. MU deserves to be very successful. As for the short, it did remind me of "Paperboy". I didn't think it was very good tho. The first Pixar short in a long time that I didn't enjoy.

PS........MU gives me hope for Finding Dory.

I saw Monsters U today. Though it's not as good as the first, I still really enjoyed it. That, and Squishy's mom is named Sherri...which is my mom's name
