Anyone else upset about the demolition of mickey's house?

This upcoming trip is the first time I am upset that its gone. My son loves Mickey and it would have been great to show him Mickeys house. But I am sure he will enjoy the Circus theme as well.

DD4 is very sad that they are gone. While she does not remember visiting the houses, she saw some pics of herself in Minnie's house (2010 I believe) this weekend and was quite sad when I told her it wasn't there anymore. I see no really good reason why the houses couldn't have been spruced up and incorporated into the new Fantasyland or relocated. There is still a little of the theme there with Pete's tent.

I'm definitely going to miss Minnie & Mickey's house!! I went to Disneyland two years ago and their set-up was great! They had houses for: minnie, mickey, goofy, donalds boat, and chip and dales tree house. It's so interesting to see how their house looked. That was my favorite spot when I was younger. And like other people said earlier, it all started with a mouse! I do love the princesses but I think they could have made room for both.

Mickey's & Minnie's houses were well executed; it's rather sad to see them go. Let's see what they replace them with. Once FLE is completely finished, maybe the area will be better than what was there before.

P.S. I miss 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Yes extremely my kids want to see it every trip and do not understand where it went. I explain Mickey now stays in the castle.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
I had heard that the houses, since they were designed to be temporary, were in too poor of shape to be salvaged, structurally speaking. Specifically, the word "termites" had been heard...
Anyone else hear this one?

I wish they'd moved it rather then demolishing it. But, I also miss 2000 Leagues Under the Sea. The parks change...and I can roll with the punches.

It's funny, my kid had her first "forgotten disney" moment this past trip when she found out that Kim Possible was no longer at EPCOT. She grumped all the way...until she got to play Agent P. Then it was forgotten.

Granted small scale, but it was amusing to watch her complain about how "Perry doesn't even talk, there's no way he's going to be as fun as Kim Possible". Yeah...she's growing up to be a Disneyphile too.

For some reason, rumors like this seem to come up about attractions that are closed. Horizons sinkhole, for instance. If you had termites, even in a temporary structure, wouldn't you get an exterminator instead of letting them eat the whole building?

Can you imagine the guests complaints when the would have had to tent the house to eradicate termites.

I think it would be a fun attraction like that. You'd get to dress up like the hazardous waste people in Monsters Inc, and Disney would save extermination labor costs. Win win!

From time to time my dear wife and/or son ask "what's new at Disney?" Last night at supper they asked and I started to tell about the new fantasy land expansion. My wife asked where did they put the castle? when told them they took down Toontown they were both upset. My wife asked why didn't they move it to DHS or even DTD as there is not a lot there now.

It is a shame that they didn't bother to preserve some of that work and move it elsewhere -- DHS, as many have suggested, would have been a fitting place to put Mickey and Minnie's summer homes. I agree, however, that they didn't belong in the Magic Kingdom. While I only visited it once, my impression of Mickey's Toon Town was that it was garish, cheap-looking and a terrible waste of space. The Fantasyland Expansion has much more to offer.
