It's amazing what happens when you improve the attractions inside a pavilion...people show up
I have nothing against the new ride, and new attractions. But "Seabase" doesn't make any sense!
OK, It's called "Seabase" now, right? Alright, then why can I see outside? That rules us out being "Under" the sea. If it's a Base, where's the science? There's no more pipes, numbers, or flashing lights. And that aside, if we assume It's a base, why are there full color pictures of Nemo & Friends on the wall? How do they know them? Why are there videos of CRUSH talking over educational videos? How did they record that? He dubs educational videos now? Why are there giant clams rolling through this "Seabase"? Why is there a giant plastic Bruce in one of the modules? How do THEY know Bruce?
So is it under the Sea? Even if you exclude the fact that you can see the outdoors, and give in to the fact that you're under the sea, what kind of BASE is this? It dosen't feel like a base any more.
Now I'm not the type to require explaniation for everything, better left unsaid I always say, but it lacks something every Disney ride has had. From Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor to 20,000 Leauges under the Sea.
A sense of place. What is it doing there? who knows. But once you enter, you know where you are and what you're doing.
"Seabase Alpha":Amazing Example of placemaking and never breaking the illusion.
"Seabase": What the heck is it again?
I've said it before, had they themed Seabase Alpha into a shipwreck like the one from the movie, or at least found some kind of theme for (what used to be) a major area of the pavilon, I would've been happy.
So for me, "Seabase" is WDI's only real current, standing, operating, EPIC FAIL.
