Forgive me if there's already a thread on this. I've searched but couldn't find one. Has there been any word as to the projected opening of the show in it's new African location?

God bless the "Ignore" button.
My biggest concern with this move is that they may move it and NOT provide ample upgrades to the show. I'm certain that the building itself will be improved, especially backstage, but Disney should fix and upgrade all aspects of the show, and let people know that they're putting forth some effort!

It would be nice if they expand the seating as the last time we were there, we walked in after having waited 30 minutes, to see each section over half full (thanks to Fast Pass, I'm sure). Either they need to give out fewer Fast Passes or have more seats.

Didn't they say the Floats are getting refurbished? I'm sure (and hope) WDW has some improvements set for the show; I can't see (well I can I'm just trying to be optimistic here) them just putting the same effects/staging/lighting/costumes in its new home….

I (being optimistic) would hope so... If it closed one day & opened the next, I would assume simply new location... With the time gap they better be doing some form of refurb\upgrade... But that's just my opinion...

It's coming along nicely, it looks like from the aerial photos we'll have at least 3 paths into the new FOTLK area, indeed a whole new "street" between the back of Tusker/Dawa and the new FOTLK theater.

I'm really interested to see what they put into that new African street. Given the crowds that attend FOTLK, probably a merchandise location and bathrooms. Camp Minnie-Mickey had some medium sized bathrooms right behind the old theater so that has to happen.

Hope there is some new dining too but maybe not enough room back there. But could be a small QS sharing the Tusker kitchen. The other parks have tons of dining where 2 locations share a kitchen (HS and Epcot especially).

With the show being down the projected 6 months I hope the refurbish the floats. I hope they bring back more of the original tumble monkeys act like in the beginning. I miss the springy poles that they used to use.

I'm curious about a new building that seems to be going up near the east bridge off of Discovery Island (the bridge that is currently backstage). It is south of the new theater for FOTLK and doesn't seem to be directly related to that development -- I'm guessing it might be a new dining or merch location.

I noticed that also. I wonder if it's going to be a Lion King merch locations. That would make sense especially if that path is going to be used as the exit from the theater.

That building to the south would make sense for merch. Or a large-ish snack location (a la Cheshire Cat in MK), or a tiny QS. Or very big pair of bathrooms highly themed to Lion King XD
Can't wait to see. It's air-conditioned at the very least!

Just saw some more photos on 'another site' of recent progress, and I'm struck by how
large the new building is.

That, plus the dismissal and re-auditioning process, makes me wonder if we're
going to be getting a "2.0" version of the show, with a bunch of enhancements.

Anyone heard anything about the show itself changing?

Or a HKDL version with one singer instead of 4 and no monkeys :(

They've just held auditions in 3 cities for the same 4 singers that were in the CMM version, and this past Sunday they held auditions for male gymnasts for FOLK. It was on disneyauditions.com

So, the same show that we all know and love.

And I concur that the building is huge. But I believe that might be because of all the facade detail (which wasn't present, at all, in CMM), as well as all the BOH supports building being constructed right behind the theatre. My guess is the same show, same guest facing footprint. But larger, and stronger support structure.
