Any Of You Cry On Your Way Home?

I cry like a baby on my last walk down Main Street and on the ferry as I am watching my castle fade away until next time. We get up and leave the next morning and I sniffle a little as we go under the sign. After that I am okay because we usually stop and spend 4 or 5 days at the beach on the way home.

I always take one very, very long look at the Castle or SSE or the Tree as we leave. I just look at it, and think how awesome it is to be able to go to such a place. Definitely leaves me teary eyed.

No. Well, I only left once, but when I did I tried to look back to the castle and think "I will see you later" instead of thinking "Good bye". I decided to be positive about things and it worked.

walking under the train station to the waving "see you real soon" people. because the kids are leaving the nest, I know these are the last trips with them and it chokes me up a little. I guess it isnt so much leaving Disney, its the time slipping thru my fingers.

DSIL and I both cried on our flight home in Feb of 2008, first because we were leaving WDW; secondly, because we could see the X#@@X** snow out of the plane window on the way home :ROFLOL:
It's better now that we are driving, not so much time to dwell on leaving when we're at the parks the last day and then in the car as opposed to waiting on DME. It also helps being AP holders now and DS in school so we know we're going to be visiting FL.
We're heading down our last week in Jan for our anniversary without kids  but we will see DS whilst there.
I find that it really helps knowing I will return

I use to cry seeing how i only came down 1-2 times a year. It was my way of leaving my life and coming to a new one everytime, But then i moved down here and I walk to Disney everyday/week. Lol

I don't cry, but rather reflect on the whole trip and how much fun was had by all in the days following our arrival home. We drive down and back and it usually takes between 19 and 22 hours each way, and I spend most of that time concentrating on the road and what lies ahead.

I definitely have to admit though that there is no greater feeling than seeing SSE or one of the other taller attractions from the highway as we are getting closer to WDW on that second day of driving. :) By the same token, there is no sadder feeling then seeing them fade into the distance in my rear-view mirror as we are pulling away from WDW.

Crying when leaving WDW is a normal psychological reaction for many true Disney folks. My theory is you are exiting a safe childlike wonderous experience and heading back into a gritty reality. I don't ever remember leaving and not having that pit in my stomach. For me it has always been a place that triggers tremendous feelings of youth gone by.

I talkd to a guy at Fort Wilderness once at his amazingly set up RV campsite. I asked how long he stayed and he said 8 months out of the year! More power to him...he gets it.

If anyone can relate, please share.
