Okay, at the risk of having my traditionalist membership revoked...I think the Shermans, while they've written some classic music for Disney, are a bit overrated.

Exhibit A: "The Monkey's Uncle," with Annette fronting the Beach Boys, written by the Sherman Bros.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQG10A-ymtg

Exhibit B: The Beach Boys singing "Disney Girls (1957)," written by Beach Boy Bruce Johnston. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQG10A-ymtg

revoked! ;)

not everyone can hit at 1.000 everytime, but the sherman brothers have a very good hitting percentage.

I guess I'm the rare one in the bunch because my family and I enjoyed the Tiki Room when we were there a couple of years ago. Under New Management was actually one of my kids' favorites when we were there and I actually liked the show even compared to the original.

I would much rather sit and watch that show all day long than deal with "Stitches Great Escape"....blah! That is the only attraction to date that we disliked so much that we will never do it again!

Agreed. Significant changes would need considerably more time, right?

It would take more time unless a new show was allready on the shelf from a previous blue sky session. I would not be surpirsed due to the low ridership that someone was thinking about changes.

I second that motion....

THIRD!!! Thats a horrible example of a crappy Sherman Brothers song! I think its among the catchiest theme songs they have written! On top of that Annette is too cute and it features the legendary Beach Boys! HAHA I just dont get that example at all. Try again.....

I I I LOVE THE MOOONKEY's UNCLE YEA YEA
I LOVE THE MOOOONKEYS UNCLE OH OH
I LOVE THE MOOOONKEYS UNCLE
FAR FROM THE WORST SONG IN THE SHERMAN BROTHERS DISCOGRAPHYYYY

I say its okay to have a dissenting opinion. But in an effort to be balanced, I also say its not okay to have a dissenting opinion. Of course, I don't believe the latter, I just wanted to be confusing.

Judging from a typical WDI development cycle, yes. Seems like a short amount of time to construct a new show, much less design and write a new show.

Hey... what do I know?

No no, that does indeed sound about right.

And I don't know about you, but being on these boards long enough makes me think I'm at least on the same level as basic execs at TWDCo. For some reason they just wont take me seriously. Maybe they dont like my avatar?

I'm with you. I like UNM. Of course, I've never seen the original, so I can't really comment on the differences. Anyone have a time machine or a youtube link (but preferably a time machine, because that would be a fun way to spend the afternoon.)

LOL. C'mon. Even the Beach Boys (probably my all-time favorite band) had more than their share of awful cheesy songs. That song was written for Annette, were you really expecting it to be "Feed the Birds" caliber?

Hey HMF.

What is your favorite music group or artist?

Now, try and tell me they do not have some songs that are not all that great as you would say. Is each and every song great? Well if that were true then I guess their songs must all be number 1's then.

Each and every song can not be great and that goes for everyone. (including the Beatles which I adore, a few were just OK)

As everything else, opinions vary. I actually like the song with Annette as shown above.

The Sherman brothers are good. Look at all the songs they wrote and they have quite a few winners.

Anyway, back to topic. Any stirrings at Tiki room?

The Sherman Brothers were really great songwriters I love "The Boys" Documentary which is really good for those who have not seen it. I was responding to Slowjack and pointing out how Bruce Johnston writer of the Beach Boys song "Disney Girls " wrote one of the worst songs I have ever heard "I write the songs". Brian Wilson "is" the Beach Boys IMHO.

If there's any truth to the multiple versions rumor, I hope imagineering is working on a Christmas show. I'd love to hear all the little birdies sing Mele Kalikimaka.

Nice...

I definitely feel like I have my finger on the pulse of the Disney fan community because of these boards, but the more I learn from the insiders the more I realize that Disney is a different animal then the rest of the world.

Then perhaps "American" reading comprehension should be higher on your list. The poster didn't say they liked SGE, only that they disliked the UNM Tiki Room so much that they would never visit it again.

If you're going to quote someone else, try to keep what they say in context, rather than changing it for your own purposes....

And who said I wasn't American?

Actually, syst3merror said the family liked UNM, and hated SGE. He/she said that SGE is the only attraction they disliked so much that they never want to do it again.

WondersofLife apparently took that to mean that syst's family likes Sounds Dangerous.

You correctly pointed out that WoL had made an inappropriate leap. All we know for certain is that the family doesn't dislike SD enough to never want to do it again. That is indeed not the same as knowing that they like it. For all we know, they've never seen it.

I have no idea what being American, or not, has to do with any of it.

Oh sure. Remember, though, I was responding to someone who said anything from the Shermans was better than anything else. My point was that even though the Shermans wrote some great stuff, they also wrote stuff that was not so great.

I don't actually think "The Monkey's Uncle" is completely horrible, although I was a bit surprised at the vociferousness of the opposition. I just thought it made a nice symmetry--a Sherman song for Disney including the Beach Boys, and a Beach Boys song that references Disney.

I like the Monkey's Uncle myself.
Let's also remember it was a theme song for a movie. That right there ups the difficulty level. Most movie theme songs are challenged at best.
