I agree, they should use it as a food pavilion...but with a twist...why not have it like a "Hall of Old Epcot"...you know...have bits a pieces of old exhibits...i.e old Figment, old Universe, old Horizons....etc...and just that type of stuff for display to view while you eat..much like the Planet Hollywood theme.

Just a thought......would be nice to see some oldies but of course goodies!!

Sounds like a good idea to me!

does anyone know about this ?

There's no need to jet around the globe to experience dining around the world.

With this Grand Gatherings Experience at Epcot®, international culinary favorites are on the menu for parties looking for a storybook ending to their day.

Clients are directed to the Odyssey Restaurant, where they see the primary colors of international flags lined up side-by-side, symbolic of Epcot®'s theme of international friendship.

Inside, the sounds of music and the smell of fine international cuisine complete the perfect ambience for a dinner at World Showcase. This incredible experience offers delectable food from all over the world, from Asia to Italy, with dishes consisting of pasta, chicken, sausages and assorted vegetables, just to mention a few.

Following dinner, children in the audience are invited up onto the stage to hear a classic Disney story by the bookmark storyteller. After the story, a surprise Disney character appears for a meet-and-greet with the children, and is available for pictures and autographs.

After the character experience, everyone is invited to follow their guides to Towers Plaza where they will enjoy dessert and VIP viewing of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.

The International Dinner experience is available Mondays and Fridays at Epcot®, at a cost of $59.99 for guests ages 10 and older, and $19.99 for guests ages 3-9.

 that's awesome, wdwmom! thanks for that update! i had never heard that before! personally, that's what i've been wishing they'd do with that place! tie FW and WS in together in that one restaurant. they should keep serving what they're serving, and give us a taste of the world. they should definately open that up to the public! i think it'd go over really well....all they have to do is advertise a little around the property!

"Towers Plaza" (also commonly referred to as "Showcase Plaza), although not referred to as such on most park maps, if the entrance area to World Showcase coming from Future World. It encompasses the two shops (Disney Traders Port of Entry), and and the lagoon viewing area.

Ahhh, thank you. That would be a good spot to watch Illuminations.

And, marni1971, thanks for those great pictures! Turns out that I ate there too in 1987 (when I was 4) and have a bunch of pictures in there. I had always assumed the pictures were from what is currently the Electric Umbrella, but after comaring them to your pictures, it's definately the Odyssey building.

I'll post them if I can.
