Hi everyone!
I just thought I would post and say "hi" on the Disneyland board! I've been lurking around here for the past couple months, and it's been wonderful to read all the stories about Disneyland and see all the great input that WDW regulars have been getting from the Disneyland regulars as they also plan their first trips.
My family of four is planning a trip to Anaheim in late July. My mom has done the majority of the planning and has us booked to use our DVC points at the Grand Californian (yaaay!). We'll have five days in the parks, which sounds like a great amount of time for newbies to explore and hopefully take our time and soak in the atmosphere. We've been WDW regulars my whole life, with trips to the world every 2-4 years or so since the late 80s.
We've been cautiously planning this Disneyland trip, because unfortunately one of our dogs has cancer, and late July is kind of a critical time as far as her prognosis goes. We had already started planning the trip by the time she was diagnosed in late November. As a family of veterinarians, we take our pets pretty seriously, and my mom especially does not want to take this trip if there is any concern whatsoever that our dog is showing any kinds of decline. I completely understand - we wouldn't have any fun if we spent the whole trip worrying about her.
However, good news is that our dog is doing great after her chemotherapy, and her bloodwork and x-rays have been clear for months now. I don't want to jump the gun, but we're starting to feel a tich more optomistic that she has some good, happy time ahead of her and that maybe we can take the trip to California without having to worry about her too much. If she is still looking good in about a month or so, my mom's going to give the all clear for us to go into full planning mode. I'm starting to allow myself to get a little bit more excited!
Anyway, just wanted to say hi to y'all and also thanks for all the advice that I've gained second-hand from reading posts on this board. We were starting to talk about restaruants we would like to try in Disneyland, and this was the first place I went to to start looking into the options and to pick up advice. You guys are great! I'm sure you guys will hear plenty of questions from me if we're able to go into full planning later next month!
