The DC area sniper claimed another life today in Virginia when a man was shot dead while pumping gas this morning. Again, a white van was seen leaving the scene.

This is the 10th victim in a week and a half....8 people have died and 2 are injured including the 13 year old boy shot while walking into his school. 4 of the victims have been shot while pumping gas...

I hope they get this killer(s) real soon cuz this has terrified the whole area and all the victims were doing mundane things that we can all relate to.

This situation is really really scary. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I heard that the sniper can aim from up to a mile away. If that is true, that is scary beyond all belief. I hope they catch the jerk soon:(

I am shocked to read that. I loved DC and had talked about living there at some point of my life. People said it was a dangerous city and I believed them.... but now this! wow! It´s too much! Killing just per se!

I just can´t believe noone had seen anything, the police has no clues but a white van, etc. How can this be possible?? At least someone has to see something if a guy falls dead at a gas station! :(

My thoughts exactly, but I didn't believe them.....I would have moved there tomorrow, I still would, but.......

This is my greatest fear.............I always wonder every day, what's preventing suicide bombers from hitting us here in the U.S.?

ANSWER: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!

Now, maybe instead of suicide bombers, we are in store for daily terror from the gun.......both are unthinkable to deal with, and I hope to GOD that this isn't a start of a new way of life for all of us, to have to worry about are lives and are families while walking down the street in the United States of America.........

This is why I stand by Israel 100%, all the $hit the Israeli people go through, those families have been through enough bull$hit in their lifetimes, just blow up Arafat already, I used to see Arafat as a man with no power, but I really don't care anymore, just kill the ba$tard, he's had enough chances.........

This really is terrible, and I hope to God they catch this sick person soon.

But how do you catch something you know nothing about? This is what we have to think about. The police really know nothing more about this guy than we do. We know that he has a gun and is very sick. Besides for that, your guess is as good as there's at this point.

But lets all hope that soon this crazy person will be caught and be given what he deserves.

When I first heard about the shootings, of course I was furious, but you should have seen the smoke coming out of my ears when the boy was hit. Thank God he survived.

This is a very terrifying spree in that, as stated, each victim has been hit while doing completely mundane, day-to-day activities. There is no pattern. It could happen to anyone, and the person shoots from so far away, there is no warning. They happen in broad daylight. I have a friend in the area who is probably more than a little nervous right now.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand why cant they get a Mug Shot or License plate number?? This dude/ppl arent like invisible why cant the witness get one.. And before you say " He was too far away" ..

No not all the shootings.. The FBI said he was less then 50 Yds.

LOL....As much as I'd like to know what the motive is, I wouldn't be disappointed to see the cops take him down immediately. It may very well end up that way.

I hate the thought of some Johnny Cochran wannabe pleading this guy's case and hearing about how abused or neglected he was as a child...and even if he is convicted and sentenced to die, 12 years of appeals and delays are more than he gave his victims.

Can you imagine that there is someone alive tonight, enjoying life with their family, that will soon be killed if the authorities don't get this guy? Sends chills up my spine.

10 days, 10 bullets, 10 victims

I dont think there were any plates on the van they were looking for.

Thanks for that! I have been in DC twice and really liked the place, although I was warned that it was a "dangerous" city. It looked full of security for obvious reasons I guess. Doesn´t it look like a mock that this guy or whoever is killing people and getting away with it in a city that is supposed to have a lot of security?

Also, on the death penalty when they catch him.... I disagree. For two reasons: One, only God should take people´s lives. Two, I don´t see the punishment and the suffering he deserves in giving him the death penalty. They are given a shot and they die "peacefully". I can´t think of a better punishment for anyone in the world, than being in prison and not being able to go out and do things. I agree with "life sentences", but not death penalties. That´s not a punishment in my opinion, it´s a gift for those sick minds.

Absolutely, I'm not for the death penalty either, it's an easy way out for a convict.............just look at this prostitute serial killer they just put down in Florida, she denied being insane, she confessed to all of it, WHY??? because she wanted to meet her maker, AN EASY WAY OUT FOR HER!!!!

He's got a gun, he's sick, and he has terrifyingly accurate aim. A LOOONG lifetime spent in a maximum security facility surrounded day and night by the worst of convicted felons sounds about right.

Actually, from what I've heard of the caliber of the weapon (.223), he'd be lucky to hit a CAR from a mile away, much less a person. I've been in the military since '83 (MO Army National Guard, plus Active Duty Army from March of '92 to Dec. of 2000), and an M16 is the same caliber, and IT has only a maximum effective range of a little over 300 Meters. (I think it's 450 Meters, but I can't remember exactly. :veryconfu Still NOT a mile.) Still, whether it's from 1 foot or 1 mile, it IS indeed a scary situation for the people of the DC area.

Actually, the Sick B@stard shot 5 in ONE DAY!! Well, within a 24-hour period anyway. Still, ONE person shot within One YEAR is still TOO MANY!! :mad: He got the 1st on Oct. 2nd, FIVE on Oct. 3rd, then 1 each on the 4th, 7th, 9th and 11th. :mad: It's NOT like he's in a war zone, shooting people out of self-defense. He's shooting "John the Barber", that cuts your hair once a month, or "Joe the Shop Owner", who you buy your milk and bread from, and even "Billy the Junior High School Student", that YOUR son or daughter sits by in Math class. :(

I Hope when the Police catch him, they save the tax-payers some money, and "Take Care" of him. If not, I DO Hope he gets the death penalty, because it IS the Least he deserves. I know, some of you say he needs to suffer with LIFE in Prison, but that's the point. He has KILLED, so he No Longer DESERVES to Live. The bad thing is, he can only die ONCE. :mad: Think of all the pain and suffering he has caused for TEN FAMILIES so far!! FAMILIES!! That's NOT counting all the FRIENDS of the victims.

All that having been said, I feel it only fair to admit that I would NOT be able to "Pull the Switch" on him, to put him to death, as MUCH as I BELIEVE in the Death Penalty. It's just not in me to even Hurt another human being, much less Kill one. I realize that's a Poor Attitude for a soldier to have, and I Hope I never have to be deployed, and put it to the test. It would be One Thing for me to hesitate at the wrong moment, and be killed myself, but I would NOT want to hesitate, and get a fellow soldier killed. I've never considered being a Police Officer for that same consideration, not wanting to have any partner killed because of my hesitation.

Just think: He is Probably one of those people enjoying life with HIS family tonight. That SUCKS!!! :mad:

For those of you that are interested, CNN.Com has more info on this, if you care to look at it. WHY does there have to be people like this? :(
