Another person joining mid trip?

Four of my friends and I are heading down for a trip Dec. 1st-11th. A friend is going to join us on the 7th and stay with us until the end of the trip. We'll probably stay in a Fort Wilderness cabin, which I know will be cramped, but we don't spend much time in the room. My question is if our friend joins is and buys a four day pass are we doing anything "illegal" by letting him stay with us? I know there is a charge per adult for a normal room but I didn't think so for the cabins.

According to allears.net, there is a charge of $5 per day for each adult after the first 2 adults in Fort Wilderness cabins.

You can split your trip in two, the first 6 nights with 4 people in the cabin, the last 4 nights with 5. If you just let your friend glom on to your reservation, odds are you won't get caught - though if you are, you're at the mercy of the management. Chances are they'll just surcharge you for the extra person, though they'd probably not believe you if you said "no, he's only been here the last 4 nights of our trip, don't charge us $50, only charge us $20."

Other thing to consider, if your 5th friend isn't officially on the reservation, then he won't get a room card, and won't be able to take advantage of any Extra Magic Hours, room chargin privileges, stuff like that. Might be worth the time to split your reservation in 2, and the extra double sawbuck, to have those options.

Thanks so much! I totally forgot about emh. We don't mind paying to add him on, I just wasn't sure how to go about it.

You can go to the front desk and add them to the room when they arrive, no need to split up the reservation. That way they'll get a room key for EMH.

We've had family join us many times. I don't think we've ever had to pay the $5/night fee for the additional adult. Somehow we always seem to get pixie-dusted by the front desk CMs and they add our extra grown-up as a junior which doesn't generate the additional cost. Be prepared to pay the extra fee but cross your fingers for a little pixie dust for being up-front and honest. Good karma goes a long way...as does EMH access!

How are you planning on getting to WDW? If you are flying in and taking DME, you need to have them on the reservation prior to the trip. That way they can use DME. If they aren't using DME, then you should have no problems just adding them when they show up.

Yes, this is exactly what we just did on our last visit when family came to join us for a couple of nights.

I had my parents join me for the last few nights of a solo trip. When I checked in, I let the front desk know, and they had room keys waiting for them. We did pay the extra charge for being over 1 adult per room per night.
