What is up with that political jab? Is the anti-disney mayor not a republican? And there is nothing wrong with democratic socialism.
I was referring to City Councilman Dr. Arte Moreno, who has made it clear by his statements on a range of issues that he is a Socialist.
Mayor Tait, on the other hand, is just a Grumpy Gus, and his alleged political affiliation has nothing to do with that. He seems to dislike nearly everything and everyone. I remember being grumpy like that when I was in my 50's, and many men go through that phase of life. It's called having a Midlife Crisis, although nowadays they blame it on crashing Testosterone levels and hormone imbalances.
But instead of buying a Corvette and hitting on cocktail waitresses, Mayor Tait just glowers and grumps at city council meetings and hates Disneyland or any other successful business in Anaheim. It's kind of funny to watch, but only because I don't live in that city.
Dr. Moreno, however, he's just a Socialist who says stuff like this to national newspapers...
"It's as if we should somehow feel grateful that Walt Disney chose Anaheim." -Dr. Moreno, Anaheim City Councilman District #3
And to bring it all back on topic, it's this exact anti-business political climate in Anaheim that has led TDA to hold off on announcing anything via the Blue Sky Cellar exhibit for Marvel Land, Mickey's Runaway Railway, etc. They already cancelled the 4th Hotel, but TDA and Burbank are forced into waiting until
after the election to determine how much more they will invest in their Anaheim property.
No businessman worth his payroll taxes, whether he was running a pet store or a giant theme park, would feel comfortable in long term investments if the local politicians were that blatantly against you being present in their city. It's just basic Business 101 level stuff here.
