Another Disney "princess" movie....

Well, sure. That's funny. But I still don't understand the point you're trying to make.
I guess all those princess spots don't count because they're too expensive for you, right?

Apparently CarsLamd didn't count either because even though it's in one of the "parks" it's not in Florida....
Oh, right. So the problem is that Disney is realeasing a movie with a female lead and not building Tron and Cars rides right now at his theme park of choice (despite the high likelihood that some aspects of Carsland will eventually make their way to Orlando). Does that about sum it up?

3 princess spots. And they don't count as much as the stuff that's aimed at more traditionally boy interests but are free to every one. That's for damn sure!

There have been 6 princess movies since the late 80s. Anyway, here are Disney's highest grossing films since TLM (revenue numbers from Wikipedia). Now of course this doesn't include merch sales, video/dvd and other things..

Of course, I'm still waiting to hear how this all connects with the OP, although that too has pretty much gotten shot down....
The original concern being that the Disney slate of movies is too princess centric appears to have been rather completely refuted, so...
Why is there more 'girl' focused merchandise in the shops (a statement I'm not sure I agree with - but will go with for the argument)?
Girls like to shop more. And mommies and grendmothers like to shop for their little princesses. Having less 'boy' merchandise is a reflection of market, not the driving force behind the customers.
To continue with the stereotyping of this entire discussion: boys like rides, girls like to be princesses. So, the majority of rides are more boy centric, while the majority of meet and greets and boutiques are girl centric.
The current construction leaves us with the removal of a Princess ride and primcess and fab 5 meet and greets. In return we get a new princess ride, a new restaurant, new princess meet and greets, new Mickey meet and greet, new dwarves mine coaster, doubled Dumbo capacity. Seems like a wash in the realm of stereotypical sexism.

I don't like to include Tron since it's not made by Disney, it's only released by them. In the same way I don't include Pixar in this discussion.
Anyway, the amount of boy and girl movies that Disney has released in the past 20 years has been fairly evenly distributed.
I think the main thing is when you look at actual disney movies as of late, we've already had two princess movies in the past two years. Now it looks like another is in the works. I get part of it is that Disney hadn't had a big movie in quite some time and now it seems like they're falling back on the Princess franchise to get their animation division going again. I personally have no issue with it. I'd love to see Disney-made movies get a real boost again. I miss real Disney movies.
